You can't boot OS2 once OS2XL has been installed. I doubt JJ has plans to change this, it would make too much sense.

Wow...

I just erased all the comments I made. I don't think I can improve on your retardation.

Oprah Winfrey wrote:Explanation of XL

Installation of XL can be performed only from Ver3.09 of the free version.
Moreover, XL cannot switch OS.
Therefore, when you return to OS of AKAI, and OS1, please install OS again from the mode of load of XL.
When you return to OS2, please install OS2 again from the load mode of OS1 after installing OS1.
In addition, even if it installs XL, the password of OS1 or OS2 is not lost.

Unless it enters the password of XL, the save of XL is impossible.
Even if a function except a save does not enter a password, it can be used altogether.

The password price of XL is US$113.00.
However, the price is US$64.00 when installing XL in MPC into which the password of OS1 is entered.
When the password of OS1 is entered, Product ID of 6 characters is displayed.
When the password of OS1 is not entered, Product ID of 7 characters is displayed.
Product ID is not displayed when the password of OS2 is entered. (A password is unnecessary)

plus
Notes
OS1 or OS2 cannot be used even if it enters the password of XL.
When the password of XL is entered into MPC into which the password of OS1 is entered, OS2 cannot be used although OS1 can be used.
MPC into which the password of OS1 and OS2 is entered can use all the JJ OS (OS1, OS2, XL).

now, that's sick..

No, that sucks. Maybe I'm just misunderstanding JJ's poor translation. Let me get this straight: unless you've already purchased passwords for OS1 and OS2, from today forward new JJ OS customers can only boot XL as they can only purchase a password for XL. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

elevated, a couple points:

it would be good to wait a bit longer before requesting this because:
1. it will give more people time to see the thread & respond. some people only check the forum once a week or so. the more people on board the better our chance for success.

2. JJ is currently preparing to release OS 2XL for the 2500 on the 12th. he is going to have his hands full with processing payment & passwords, dealing with bug reports / questions / etc. it will be better to send him the request later, at least a week or so. he will be less busy and more receptive to the request.

also, i think it would be good to give this whole 'requested features for OS 2' it's own thread. right now we are buried in this 'fate of OS 2' thread and i think some people may not see what we are planning. better to have our own thread so it is more visible and better organized.

You got that right. OS2XL adds a half assed arpeggiator and novelty chord function and takes away creative workflow tools. Anyone wanna sell me their OS1 and 2 passwords?

Edit:

After reading JJ's password generation method, I now understand that someone can't just sell me their password and copy of the OS if they ever want to get rid of it.

This also means if your MPC with JJ OS installed ever needs repairs which affect certain unspecified components unique to every MPC, from which the password is based upon, or even if you have to replace your MPC, you are sh*t out of luck and will be forced to purchase another password...What the f*ck kind of unprofessional bullsh*t is that?

My copy of SoundDiver doesn't rely on a specific computer to function. Emagic is out of business but I can still use SoundDiver, I just install and authorize it from the CD on any given computer. And why f*ck shouldn't I be able to? I paid for it!

Here's scenario for you: JJ goes out of business, your MPC dies right before a recording session and you can't install the OS you shelled out $100+ for on your replacement MPC 'cause JJ's idea of a software license is bullsh*t. And JJ won't be around to sell you another password.

JJ is a hack.

Sooty-- I hear what you're saying, but overall I think it makes sense to give JJ a heads-up soon as possible. Based on the responses in this thread, I have a very good idea of what our group would be looking for in a final version of OS2.

I'll be sending an official email to JJ tomorrow afternoon, in "JJ speak" and with complete details of who we are and what we're looking for.
