Using 'Mono' pad setting to cut everything?

Is there a way to program the pads so that with the MONO setting it cuts off other pads and not just that pad?
And if not, is there a easy way to cut off other samples rather than going through afterwards and changing the duration of each in STEP EDIT?

Yes.... when you are assigning a sound in a progam & have gone to PARAMS to set your Voice Overlap to MONO, then press the OPEN WINDOW button & you get these settings. It is the standard thing to get your open & closed hi-hats to cut each other off.

Something I like to do is make a tiny sample of silence & use that to cut off a long sample at different points in different sequences. If I've got a one bar loop playing throughout a song & in just one sequence I want it to cut off at 1.04.24 it is easier to stick this "silencer" at that point rather than try & work out the note duration for the loop.
