I remember wanting an EMU Command Station when they first came out, I also remember wishing EMU would have included sampling too. This is pretty much what the command station should have been. If the specs of this machine are legit and it's OS actually works I'd be careful not to sleep on the Kangz. I remeber somewhere that one of the Kangz said it would be less than a MPC2500.
Wouldn't it have been great if they would have contacted Roger first?
Overall, I'm glad they had the guts to go independent and produce a product with beatmakers in mind.

FORGET THE MARKETING ITS THE SPEC THAT YOU NEED TO KEEP YOUR EYE ON

seem like they got some V-machine tech. in this beat thang ,think about it drop dll. from the FM8 or other vst,
that what it sound like what they talking about

i myself will not be buying one, i'm happy with my 2500, baring in mind i absolutley despise akai...but i say all the best to those guys, i hope all goes well for them. with the right direction, who knows? in years to come and people are considering to buy their first drum machne, the beat thang really might be an option.

just my two cents.


Co sign and maybe it will but a fire under Akai`s ass too.

That may be a tad optimistic, but I can see a VST supported software front end. That wouldn't be so hard to implement.

We are going after Akai because they came to our studio, blew smoke up our a$$, got us to trust them and then tried to steal our idea with the xr 20. They Even jacked some our sounds so its very personal. They took food out of my son's mouth at a time we were really struggling just trying to make ends meat....... So now its war. It was either 187 or find a way to build a machine. They should be glad we found a way to do it where they could at least not have to die. This aint no game to us. A man who has just had his dream stolen and has no money to provide for his fam is a very dangerous serious person.
Imagine having one of your best songs stolen by a major artist when you have a baby on the way....

We are not trying to offend anyone (Except Akai) but we aint gonna pretend to be anything other than who we are. Hell yeah so "Mo Bang" ya damn right!! That was kind of a joke at the time but we are getting a kick out of shaking things up... hell we might name a button "fug akai" just to give people something else to chat about at 4am in the forums) There are plenty of machines and companies that use conventional language and conventional marketing. We aint them and this is a new Thang. Dont get it twisted this WILL be a pro machine.... just crazy names

Well here is a good tip for the Beat kangs or what ever the name of the company that will make the beat thing is called...

Make sure ALL features you advertise WILL WORK. You all saw what we think about false advertisements.


On another note... I dont think the light up pads and visual bells and whistles are that important (but that's me.. highschool kids will eat that up in a second) but I somehow do think the light pads might help if this machine is good for live stuff, because gigs are not always bright enough to see everything. I hope there is a button to turn off the light flashing though.

the two SD card slot idea is very useful... as long as you can copy files from one card to another. I somehow dont see how ram is not needed though... or else you wouldn't have put as much as you guys did..

features like 8 outs is useful because it makes the unit more adaptable and can be used in conjunction with other stuff... flexability is an important feature.

You guys should add a USB port for things like key drives and external hard drives... the more stuff your machine could read the better..... or at least get the main mediums on lock.

two headphone jacks is a great idea, it is cheap to toss a second one in and it adds room for a friend to ride shotgun if you will...

phantom power mic ins... smart idea, again more integration gives you more flexability.



I have a question for the beat kings...

Obviously since I am here on the forum I have a computer, but I am curious to know how this beat machine will serve people without computers when it comes to making finished beats? Is there a way to hook up a CD burner or something? I mean sure you could transfer files to the PC with cards.... but what if that is not an option the night before handing out demos?

Well I assumed that by the name beat thang... I cant help but picture in my head the name of the machine being said in project pat's voice.

To all the people interested in them Thangz we thank you very much. We look forward to being a company that is dedicated to the advancement of Beat Making. That's how you guys are all gonna get that real raw gritty sound. F*ck 12bit SP 1200's or other crap like that. Get dat raw rugged realness called "Beat Thang" yo!

But the Beat Kangz came to this thread claiming otherwise...
There is no conformation on where or how they are having these machines manufactured.
