am i doing something wrong???

i just bought memory from best buy (PNY 256mb) and i think i put in it right, but when i turn the mpc on, nothing comes up on the screen..am i forgetting a step, or is it because this type of memory isnt compatable??????...

Whats the model type of the memory chip?

i read alot of topics about RAM and everybody that uses PNY 256mb said it works fine for them..i just bought my mpc like 2 days ago so if you could break it down real simple it would help me more

model type??...ummm...on the back it says PNY 256mb pc 100 NOTEBOOK

everyone said they got pc133 on the posts i read, but when i went to look at PNY pc133, they looked way too long to fit in the mpc..so the best buy guy told me that pc100 will work..

and theres a sticker on the chip that says 256mb sdr sodimm e

It does need to be pc 133. I have a PNY 256 MB Sodimm pc 133. It works fine.

..the only pc133 i found (staples,best buy and circuit city) looked too big to fit in my mpc..thats why i bought this one instead...how do i get it to fit???
