If EMU would have put a sampler on the command station that would have been the shit. The other thing I loved about the command station was its set of filters and the knobs to tweak-if i could mix those filters with my own samples and the knobs to tweak the hell, damn. I think a good filter section would be important. Another short comming on the mpc imo is the fx section - yeah, its doable, but its not fun. I think they should nail the essentials, but also include some fun ones like those favorites people scoop up the sp303 for; and make sure how you tweak the fx is intuitive.

I also would like to see a 4 knob matrix on it, kind of like synths, and the command station have. You have 4 knobs for say a filter, but then you could use a select button to change the set the knobs control. I never really liked the q link shit on the mpc.

I own the streetboxx from zoom. I really like the drums on that thing and the overall idea and price point, its not a bad little box.....but its sequencer lacks, and without a sampler it becomes difficult to repurpose its sound set. For drums, we all like to layer, add effects, resample, etc.

They need to nail the sampler on this thing. And i agree, i'd like to see it come with a sound set, but also have the ability to change, remove, update, synthesize, or purchase new sounds. If the sound set gets stale you got to be able to do something with it.

seriously though, how many people bought the fantom x because it looked cooler than the motif es? (probably more than you would think) or atleast if all else was equal, why not go for the looks? cant blame them for aiming at both the newbie flashy market and the professional seasoned mpc market. If it really delivers plus they sell a bunch to soulja boy wanna bees, more power to them.

I aint want no grill, but i would like color options/casing stickers and wood sides.

Usually I agree with you alpha but on this one I differ. It is great idea and a great effort if you think about if their product gets out the door and others see the gear taking off. Then of course people will realize that if they can do it, then they can do one better. The lockdown that the majors have on the market can open up with entrupetneors and venture capitalists who knows in 10 years time they will be the new major music gear makers.

Now I don`t have any intention of buying a bling out crunk box but I do think that they start with break down some walls and open the field for others like the new pioneers of artists producing their own gears for the mass market.

Think about it plenty of artists have customized gear built to their specifications for private use but seldom to sell to the mass market. Remember that is how Roger Linn started a musician making his own gear and look what happen when he tied but with a major manufacturer we are using and producing with his legacy this is now 2009 so people can be the new Linns we can`t depend on the forefathers to do everything.


Bammas maybe but a Dre Machine, Primo Machine or the Alpha/Blue machine could be so much more in 2010 or later.

The most simple and straightforward answer to all this speculation is the fact that Roger Linn and Dave Smith are taking so much time to put out a machine that will have half the features of this supposed all-in-one "thang".

At least try to be realistic when you put out a feature list.
