When are they gonna make a "Beat Making on the MPC4000"?

Just find it curious that they have made a Beat Making series for many of the MPC's even the 2k but not one for the 4k. Somebody tell me that this is in the works!!

I don't really see any point in making this book for MPC 4K. That would be too much work not worth the effort 'cus IMO manual for 4K is very good.

It is funny that you say the manual is good because back in 2002 everyone said the manual sucked. I just don't think the 4000 gets the attention is deserves. One reason is because has more sound modual capabilites of other MPC's. What I mean is that you can not use the 16 level effect like that of most MPC's.

My opinoin there is enough crap on here to compile one.
The thing is would people use it or buy it?

um, we got 16 level tuning since 1.50. dunno what you're talking about.

I know what I am taling about. When you use 16 level tuning in the 4000 is different from other MPC. OTher MPC's have a smother transition between the pads when you go from sample to sample. Like when you play base lines. It is better to have a midi keyboard and have the sounds mapped out. That is what I am referring to. As some one that has had the 4000 and the 2000, I know what I am saying. I just feel as if the 4000 does not get the respect it deserves. There are so mant tutorials on the 2000, 2000xl, 2500 and the 5000. Let me help you out man. Google expert village and view their tutorials in the 4000.

trying to understand, but i still don't quite follow. what do you mean by smoother transition? i have a 3000 and 16 level tuning pretty much operates the same way on my 4k.

I will be technical. There is a difference. I have played both machines. The MPC 4000 has polyphony which has to be adjested in order to play smooth baselines like Kevin Brown. On the 2000. I could play with out my samples being cut of by pressing the next pad.

yeah I know what you are talking about I asked Sean about this and he told me it was do to the how the sounds where mapped wich didnt make much sence to me because when you go into the sample page and play the samples it doesnt act that way. I found work arounds for it though.

MPC 4K have many features, maybe just be patient and take your time to learn them?
The only thing that I found bad in manual is that they rarely say what is practicall use of particular option. It is hard to start on this MPC, for me MPC1K in comparision to this was much much easier, but hard work always pays off.

There was a guy on here named Rob, I think that was his name, that was supposedly working on one. That was a long time ago though.

The problem is, is that the MPC4000 has so many features and options that it would be hard to write a good in depth manual with examples. Most likely lots would be left out. Hell, even recently, Feline ran across something that he didn't know was possible on the 4K.

As Bluehaze mentioned a long while back. Read the manual for the AKAI S950, and ak.Sys.

I will play mine anyway as if I have a 2000. I just try to catch it and practice so it will not cut off when I am recording. I notice a lot of people will just map their base sounds and tap the pads like Boondoc. I want that smooth organic sound that makes you think someone is playing a bass guitar. I love this machine even though I have not figured everything out. I had to give mine away back in 2005. I just got it back in March of 2008. : Sorry for the spelling errors in previous emails.

The Tips and tricks thread has some good info. Along with the S5000 manual and Aksys to work with the 4k.


These days I highly recommend sampler basic videos to help out alot to as what you can do.

A great video on multisampling exactly the same as the 4k except we use regions to divide the samples but we can from sample edit and recording page assign the root key for each sample.
