Yo fellow MPC users out there. I just got an MPC 1000. I have some questions to all the experts out there. First off I was planning on picking up a laptop this week, and I was wondering. I was planning on sampling old video game music and make beats as well as sampling some Japanese jazz CDs from my laptop. As well as sampling movie clips from my DVD collection.

Does anyone know what are the EXACT cables I need in order to get my flow going and if I need any special mixer? Thanks guys.

You need the USB cable that came with your MPC 1000. You mount the Compact Flash card and drag the samples on there. I guess sample everything with an audio recorder program or plug stereo cables into your TV and go from RCA --> 1/4"

A USB CABLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE BOX?!!! All I saw was just the power cord. Was it suppose to be in the box?

Yes. It was new right? Take it back (you probably got it from Guitar Center if half of everything is missing)....
There should be a list on the box or the manual of what is included in the box....

It also comes with a small memory card....

Everything I buy from Guitar Center I have to take back atleast once, because it is broken or missing stuff. They are a bunch of numb skulls.

I checked the box and there wasn't a USB cable included to begin with.

Dude, don't take it back for a generic USB cable! You probably already have at least one of those standard USB cables. That's your baby man, if the MPC itself is straight you need to keep that one. (Yes I love gear...)

Here's a nice tip for sampling your DVD's. All DVD players seem to have SPDIF out, so a nice chance to use the SPDIF in on your MPC1K! The nice thing is that you can use a regular RCA cable since it's a coaxial type SPDIF connection. Just one thing to note, is that I have to pitch up the sample once in the MPC, since my DVD player puts out 48Khz.

Okay but I have a TV that's a DVD/VCR combo. Would it still work or do I need to use a separate DVD player?

you can run a rca lead from the headphone jack of ur laptop to ur mpc as long as u get either the 3/4 inch adapters or the leads with3/4 on it also

Mr. Flam-- Just check the back, if there is a SPDIF connection it should be labeled. The sound quality is dope, if you've got it.

Has anyone ever downloaded other producers' drum kits like 9th Wonder or DJ Premier?
