The MPC 5000 = 6x S3000 samplers in terms of memory. It won't have any problems loading S1000/3000 libraries. Plus the fact that it has 8 tracks of hard disk recording......no problems here.

Hmm... how do I get my s1000 and s3200 floppy disks into the mpc5000?

Another question: FX parameter automation (=recording into sequencer?), may this include Synth parameters too?

Hey SCD, is the mainscreen the same on os 2? Is it similar to the 2500 and 2000 where you have to scroll thru all 16 channels of midi out A, then all 16 for b and c to get to d? I liked the way the 4000 had the midi channels a,b,c, and d separate from the midi channel. Kinda small but much faster for me. On the 2500 you had to scroll through all of the programs first then the program numbers...seemed slow as well....just wondering if in OS2 they addressed that in anyway...

Like a said it will be free.I think i was right,was i?
Good job akai,Mpc 5000 lived up to all expectations, where roland at ?
I think with these improvements mpc 5k knocked mv 8800 outta the game feature-wise but it's been a better hardware from the start anyway.I just got home from the road, and i was like damn akai made my day fo real now am confident that i will be able to sell my brand mpc 5k for decent money because it just sitting here collecting the dust, and i need only one unit.Happy as mofo.

'We’ve improved the Effects, Synth and Mixer pages by adding a new Take Over Mode to the knobs and sliders. This is a great help when going between many different pages where you are using the Q-Links to change parameter values. Parameter values will not jump to the position of the knob or fader until the original values zero crossing is passed. This allows for seamless mix and edit moves in realtime. '

I am really pleased Akai have implimented this - was one of my most wished for features.. :)

The main screen is about the same yes. It's got the locked track symbol added and has midi acitivity visualisation. Have to think about your suggestion. Is there room at all on the main screen for such a thing? (not behind my 5k right now).

As it is now: no.

You will have to transfer your disk content somehow to a card or cd/dvd.

AWW_NAWW wrote:you are going to need more memory now
128 aint gonna cut it

Well you won't be able to load *every* sample program out there, but 128 MB is a decent amount of sample memory I should say. But if necessairy you can extend it up to 192 MB.
