That's the point, I totally have bought into the idea surrounding the JJ, or else I wouldn't even be mentioning it. However - I'll say it once again - I only use my MPC to make beats on the fly and then whack them straight into Cubase ( I don't really save the projects at all on the MP - infact, I just pull samples onto the MP having loaded the sounds I want from the CF ... once I have made my beats and recorded it to Cubase, the entire file is discarded in the MP. I do not save sequences or projects at all ( wow ) to the unit or card ! I accept that I use my MP in a very minimal way, but that is how I like to use the unit currently and it serves my purpose very well indeed. Neither do I really chop other's records on my MP and then assign all the sample snipets to the pads ( which is a regular function that the MP is used for ). Infact, most of my 'chopping' is done on my PC in Recyle ( which I am very familiar with ).

So, the most important aspect of the MP is that it must sync with my software studio easily and without fuss ... which it does flawlessly under the Akai OS 2.11. the point I made in the earlier posts is that I had read some rather negative gumph about the syncing side of the Akai OS 2.12 being a touch buggy in this regard. This is also the reasons why I was staing that, as the 2.11 os is no longer available on the Akai site, I didn't want to go over to JJ and then face the prospect of only having the buggy Akai 2.12 to return to, U know ?!

However, much of this is a moot point now as Rinse has kindly provided me with a copy of the Akai os 2.11, just in case I needed to go back for any reason. So, it's JJ ( free, initially ) here I come .... and, no doubt, based on all you fine people that have parted with your hard earned pennies for the full versions of JJ, I reckon I won't be long after joining you all !!

why don't you use a mpd???? seems like your mp needs some lovin!!

Listen, you might not know, but I got rid of the Akai MPD32 a few months ago becuase it is a complete pile of p..p, putting it very mildly !! The darn thing wouldn't sync properly at all and the main selling points, apart from it's controller pots n pans, was it's MPC-related Note Repeat and Tap Tempo ... neither of which worked anywhere near a level upon which they were actual functional and near useful !! That unit does not sync with Cubase well at all ... sadly for me I noticed this first hand and it was fairly well documented online shortly after I bought the thing - I sold it about a month ago at a £70 loss - about $140 US at today's convertion ).

So, what did I do ? I went and bought myself a fantastic MPC1000, which syncs beautifully and does everthing that it says on the tin !!

but hey, it's your choice. i know my mp is a bad man.

for real don't just use somthing cuz its what you know. theres a reason jj was created it's better ,easier,and offers you
more features. I'm not saying it wont take time to learn it but know more time than learning akia's os, It might not be somthing you think you need right now but you will.Trust,get to kwow you ish if you want but that could be time well
spent in jj. I'll admit I'm only using the free version and somtimes i feel like you about 1 and 2 and now xl it's comfusing
but i know someday I'll be throwing down chops on XL. Good luck glad you went with the 1000 now rub jj on it!

problem with Midi syncing that has been reported with JJ

MIDI sync problems with JJ? I need my 1k to replay my touched-up arrangements into sonar under the 'pellas the fellas laid down over my goofy "LET"S RECORD NOW WHILE I FEEL IT" version..PLEASE TELL ME 1000s can midi sync with sonar... I have a tascam us-122 usb and an e-mu 404 pci for my sounds if this helps. Since I got my 404 my us-122 is just for extra inputs. BTW i'm brand nubian around here and this forum seems to wake up in the morning and piss excellence.
