Operating system?

ok i jsut got ym mpc the other night and i downloaded the os but i dotn know hwo to install it or whatever into my mpc? im a newb i tried the search but the search never works good for me

i have that file i jus tdont know hwo to ptoperly put it ont he flah card and install it or whatever? thanks tho

1)unzip the file
2) open and select all
3) move them to the E: aka mpc-1000
4) shut the ish down
5) turn it back on while you hold the window button

that's it

I'm trying to update my mpc1k too, but it just doesn't wanna work...

I have the 1.05 update on my CF card, card is in the MPC, restarted
with WINDOW held down.... rec ... and nothing...

what do I do wrong? I tried everything...

try puttin only the bin file in there...make sure the cf is in there properly too.......................................................................................

If you have the file, then you have your answer. Akai has done a nice job of giving you a step by step answer to your question.

How to copy OS bin file to CF with MPC1000 and Computer
- Download the MPC1000 OS from our website to your computer
- Your browser should automatically unzip the file and you should have a file called MPC1000.BIN on your computer
- Insert Compact Flash into MPC1000
- Switch the MPC1000 on
- Go Load mode, then press USB (F4)
- Connect a USB cable between PC to MPC1000 (display will change from ‘Status=Not Connected’ to ‘Status=Connected’)
- PC will mount the CF card of the MPC1000 as a drive on your computer
- Copy (drag) OS .bin file on to the CF
- Once the file has been copied, disconnect the USB cable

How to update MPC1000
- Insert CF with OS data into MPC1000
- Turn the power on while pressing down the WINDOW button
- Press the REC button- the MPC1000 will start processing the update and will then re-boot automatically with the new OS

nope... I got the same update manual from the akaipro.com, but my mpc doesn't want to start the update....

the .bin file is on the CF card by itself (the card is empty)...


after I'm restarting the mpc (with the WINDOW button down) nothing happens for the REC button....

any idea?

Yeah, it's happening but you can't see it happen until is says its over. Just let it do its thing, it takes about 45 seconds to first erase the previous OS, then it copies the new one.

Like MidnightFlyer wrote, definitely do not shut off the MPC when it is updating.

The PDF also notes:

***** IMPORTANT NOTE *****
DO NOT SWITCH THE MPC1000 OFF WHILST IT IS UPDATING THE OS

Then check Mode/Other to see if you did it right.

so there's no message while its updating the OS, right?

I'll try it right now...

nope... nothing happens.. still OS1.04.... (I bought it used with OS1.04, so someone updated it earlier)
can't believe it...

You could try re-installing OS 1.04 or earlier (http://www.akaipro.com/int/download/index.html), then try upgrading to 1.05.

If none of that works... it might be time to contact Akai.
