New User ?? Re: Burning a track from the mpc1k to a CD

Hey!! I am new to the game and I am trying to learn all there is to know about my NEW MPC!!! : ) I just wanted to know if I created a track on the MPC1k is there anyway possible it can be burned to a CD. I have a lap top as well. Is there any software I need to transfer my track to CD???

Are you resampling in the MPC1000 (assuming you have the 128MB upgrade?
Then it's a WAV file, you can transfer it to the PC using the flash card.

Otherwise, you gotta record the audio from your gear to a WAV file on the PC using an audio editor. If you don't have one, check that your CD burning software didn't come with one (e.g. Roxio, Nero), or download Audacity for free.

Once you got the WAV file on your PC, whatever software you have for your CD burner can usually handle WAV files and burn them to Audio CD (don't select "Data CD"). Then you can inflict them on the rest of the world or convert to MP3 and post them on SoundClick.

how do you get it from CF card, to PC without recording it?

i woulod just record it, seems easiest, unless you dont have a good soundcard, and in that case i would try to find a way to transfer it.

I pretty sure he meant convert a song to a sample (where the memory upgrade comes in). Then tranfer the sample to PC. and there you go

Resampling is the same as "Recording from the Main Out" in the manual.

As much as I dislike the majority of the people at futureproducers the site does have some good stuff.

Yeah that manual caught my eye yesterday. Almost felt like copping a mpc1000. Counted to slowly ten breathing in and out and I'm fine for now, no imminent gearlust .

Sorry 'bout that - yes, "resampling" is taking a sample of sample(s) - that's old school speak for re-recording the output as a sample. If it's a stereo track, you will need 10MB per minute of audio, and the standard MPC1000 has 16MB total - so you will need memory expansion to do it that way for any decent size track.

But if you have any sounds going to or coming from outside the MPC1000 at any time (external synths, FX etc.), then you can't use resampling. Mixdown to a PC is the way to go, like you said, with a decent soundcard.
