Yes. Both have been used to make Major Label Hit songs.... Either will do you just fine.

If your music is wack it wont matter what you use...

You know you can augment a devices' sound by running it through other things such as a pre-amp. Pre's will in most cases bring some type of coloring to the sound depending on the quality of the pre itself.

But between the two you mentioned, the 4k will more than likely sound a bit brighter than the 3k due to its advanced circuitry.

the 3k "seems" alot easier to use. It's simple and solid. Just perfect for what it was made to do!!!!!

I do see your point. My first MPC was a 2000xl and when I saw the 4000 in the stores for the first time I was intimidated by the 4000's large screen and layout. But, when I got the 4000 and started using it I found it no different. And then having the 3000 as my third MPC, it's layout and screen are so simple and easy to use that it should have been incorporated into the 2000/2000xl! My 60II with 3.10 & SCSI looks the same as the 3000!
