(Hi to all you mpc forummers, my name is Edwin, I am new here since I recently purchased an MPC. I own a MC-505 for many years which I mostly use to create my tunes. With the MPC... I'dd like to sample some of my work, enchange/retouch the samples, and mix it with some other sounds. And maybe use the MPC as seqencer too.)

Ok, here's my question....

-I have a extenal ZIP drive (100 iomega)

-I sampled some of my beats on to the MPC2000XL, and saved them on ZIP as SND's some WAV's.

-Now I would like to have them om my PC to edit them / add some more samples.

-If I connect the zipdrive to my PC it asks me if I want to format it because its not formatted currently.
Is this correct?

Thanks for the reply,

Ok. So the MPC can write/read from a zip that is formatted on a PC. But a PC can not read/write from a zip that is formatted on a MPC. Am I right?

I dit not install any drivers for the drive on the pc, XP came up with found hardware.... is that enough?

I still am not able to format a disk on PC.

I get a read error on the MPC as well sometimes... may be a zip with bad sectors on it?

Yes, it seems to be that way. I have no idea what drivers XP needs for a ZIP drive. There are drivers available from iomega though. If it doesn't format, it's either a bad disk or a bad drive.
