that's a good point with Roger Linn's new box. The feature list on this box is looking ridiculous, especially for the expected price (less than an mpc2500). How can a "truly" independent company afford this? It seems that they're aiming high....and that's good for the designers, but not for users who have faced numerous disappointments with pro gear in the past.

With that said, we'll just have to wait for it to come out to see how it performs. I'd love to give it a whirl. Props to them.

More and more it seems like fear of disapointment is a major and a prime concern...

However, on the bright side, lynn hasn't disapointed in the past (that I can think of) ... so maybe we can hang on to that little bit of hope.



as for the beat thang... you could turn it on and stick it on the dash of your car... people will think you're a nark. I wonder how many reds you can run with that before getting caught

the linn drum ii will come out and it will piss all over this thing and the rest

even if the linn has half the spec and half the features it will be better, why? because less is more, one useful well thought out feature is worth a hundred bad ideas poorly implemented

roger linn is synonymous with the sampling drum machine and dave smith is synonymous with polyphonic analogue synthesis, they know how to make music technology

this ... i can't bear to write the name it's too cheesy ... this abomination so far is nothing but specs, we've heard very little about the operating system or the feel of the pads and buttons, that's the important bit .. in fact what little we do know about the OS so far is disappointing, 16 tracks?

why does everybody think beatmakers are the ideal people to design this anyway? would you trust people that live in houses to build them? would you trust an airline pilot to design an advanced avionics system for a jet fighter?

this thing-that-henceforth-shall-have-no-name may be great but so far it's too hard to tell, too much bullshit i can't see the wood for the trees

3000 sounds is all well and good but how many can be played at the same time?!?!? Is it gonna be 16 like the sequencer or...? Hope it's over 64 at least...

Open to 3rd party FX is good...

Maybe if they sell enough to make a V.2 they can include all the decent features and make it look better/stylish/desirable...

looks aight but the commercial is corny as hell

a no frills beatbox would be mad, but the marketing stance on this product just makes me wanna throw up a little.

one of the best things about the mp's and sp's is that those products were flipped on there heads and used for things far greater than they were intended. thus creating the culture that followed.

expect none of that here. unless chefs maybe want to use it to grate cheese on its grill or something..
