well, you could simply change the output of your drum tracks on the 60 to a physical midi output, use the 60 as a master sync and the 4000 as a slave and record them like that. it may be possible to do a whole sequence at once then split it in the 4000 afterwards, but i haven't tried this.. maybe if cdxtract or something could read mpc60 disks we would both be a lot happier! as it is I think this is the only way to do it. sorry its not a very quick solution.

Actually, theres a couple ways to do it. They have been detailed in this forum many times before. If your MPC 60 files are on flopy, you will need to get a usb flopy drive ($35) and plug it into the 4k. If they are on zip, you need to get a scsi adaptor (25pin to 50pin) to plug your zip drive into the 4K or buy a usb zip (waist of $). If you have a computer you need to download Aksys and conect the 4k to your computer via usb cable.

Can I load up my MPC 60 sounds and programs to the 4000? How? My 60 has the latest OS installed and a scsi so I could concievably load to a zip and transfer. Will this work?

9. E-Mu E4 (next OS update V1.50)
10. Roland S700 Series (next OS update V1.50)
but not the MPC60 (over 15 years old product)
The MPC60 files would have to be converted using another unit (like an MPC2000XL, but this is a slow process) and saved in a more recent format.

curiously though,
in the factory samples that come pre-loaded on the hard drive,
there is an "MPC60 disks" folder.
I presume these were converted by the process you describe?
We got the Mike Pinder Mellotron Sample CD from www.mellotron.com this week, which is in Akai S1000 format,
and I can confirm that it works fine in the MPC4000's CD-ROM drive.
(Just as well, cos my PC's CD drive couldn't read it!!)

Sory for giving false hope... I was thought MPC60 files were compatable. I didnt know it was that old, I've never used one.
remember that the mpc-3000 is compatitble with the 60. so if you dont want to transfer the sequences via midi as i described before, then you could use a 3000 to load them up, then save them as mpc3000 files, and the 4k will read them. this should work for programs too. remember that the 4k will not play sequences that use 16level tuning properly tho.. Maybe in os 1.5 ?
