Your Mileage May Vary...
On the one hand, you would need the external clock to be really stable. It may have more resolution (ppqn) than the MPC clock, but it might not have a stable rate - it all depends.
On the other hand, part of the "feel" of the MPC etc. can be laid down to the low sample trigger time, note timings, swing, and so on, and using an external clock won't change those.
I would just say: be prepared to try both options, and go with what feels best. The MPC works just fine as the master, controlling two MIDI buses, and I would not want a PC as a master sequencer on stage...
