Where to find a 3000 inverter

So I need a new inverter and the repair specialist where I took my MPC said they couldn't find one. I called VST and they said they were out and didn't know if they would get any in. So do any of you guys have any idea where I can find this part? I've read that midi-rakete used to have some, any other suggestions state-side?

What is the part number on the inverter you need to replace?

I replaced one a while back. I bought it from a electronics supply store and the footprint was different than the original part so I had to run some wires. No big deal though. You need a +5vdc Inverter if I remember correctly. Let me check on that and I will get back to you...

It's not only important what goes into the inverter, but what comes out too. The EL foils it powers usually need something like around 100 VAC, so make sure you get the proper specification. I guess you could always take an old inverter from an S3000 series sampler as well.

Yeah I remember the output voltage being 90-100VAC. I am waiting on some data sheets on a part to verify it is the one I think it is. Just to make sure I'll measure my 3000 inverter output.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Manilla what was the install like? if you did it yourself what needed to be tinkered with during the swap? if you took it out to a tech did they say it was difficult? Again thanks for the info.

Also want know about this, does anyone have a pic of 3000 pointing out where the inverter is situated???

There is a board small with the inverter mounted on it. You just need to remove this board and desolder the old part. This is not a drop in replacement. You will have to glue the new part down somewhere and then solder wires from the new part to the board. The only tricky part is identifying the +5Vdc, Ground and Output. This is just a matter of following the traces.

yeah what dean said. the pins dont line up so u have to mod it a bit

Would it be possible to use a cheap or broken s3000/s3000XL sampler as a donor? They can be had very cheaply these days.... I'm guessing there are some common display parts in them that could be used in an mpc 3000.

Yep a S3000XL backlight inverter will work but given the age of most S3000Xls you should probably just get a new part. Plus why ruin a perfectly good XL?

i picked up an s2800 for 30 uk pounds lfor this exact reason. not just good for invertors either. the lcd display, el foil, some of the buttons and numerous other electrical components will all go into an mpc3000. good investment i reckon
