Recording Live while using the MPC?

Hey everyone,

Ive got a question relating to using the MPC 1000 live.
Im trying to work out if its possible to record something in live and have it play back straight away. For example, if i have a 2 bar sequence of drums playing, I want to be able to go to 'record' and play a bass line in time, and have it play straight back without a gap. Somehow automatically recording my full 2 bar sample and playing it back from then on?

Do u have an MPC1000 or are u gonna buy one?

But while recording drums first u can keep the overdub record on and have loop on so it plays over and over again, u will be able to record more while its playing.

I have an Mpc1000.
What Im trying to do is record a bass line from an instrument (Bass guitar or synth) into the mpc and have it loop and playback immediately while the drum sequence keeps playing. I can record a 1 bar phrase, chop it and assign it to a pad and play it back at the moment, but i was wondering if its possible to have the line play straight back after recording it, without having to stop the sequence while i chop it and assign it.

Exactly, not less and not more. You can record MIDI notes into the MPC and they will be played back instantly, but you cannot record audio on the fly and have it play back immediately.

really unsure, but doesnt jj have a few audio tracks? like the last few or something?

I'm pretty sure he can't do live recording with instant playback either.

So it seems the best way would be to use a controller (or the pads) to send midi data to the mpc, and trigger samples of the bass line that have already been assigned to a program?

Or is there a way to send the midi data to the mpc and have it send the data back out to a synth with 'midi in' and have the sound play out that way?

Ill do a bit more manual reading on midi in the mpc. Appreciate all the help!

This machine is the ideal live tool, I just want to maximise my options for performane outside the mpc itself

Either way.

Get a looping pedal with expandable flash memory. It is like having 30 tracks that record to a click and then loop until you release the pedal.
