I know the MPC can hold 4 samples per pad in 'Cycle' mode, but do you have to cycle through them sequentially, or can they be played back in a random order?

Cheers.

There is an option for "random" playback of the cycle feature.

OP, if you don't mind, I'm going to use your thread to ask a question instead of starting my own thread.

The Qlink knobs and sliders in the 5k, do they change the parameters in "real time" or is it like on the 2kxl?

Q-links knobs and sliders can change parameters in real-time plus you care record their movements into the sequence.

Excellent. Thanks for the info.

That's another tick in the plus column for getting a 5K!

(NI's Maschine is looking quite promising though)

960 ppqn sequencer, recording track mutes, keygroup programs, 4 buss multi-effects., etc are among many features that were first seen in the MPC 4000.
