If you dont like the price dont buy it. I personally love what the JJos brings to my machine so I really dont mind paying.

dont like the price, but im not buying it because it does nothing for me. with all my gear os1 is all i need. and i really dont need that but its a definite improvement so its worth it. i am really just unhappy with how the price structure has gone. release a new os so raise the price of the other os's that you have to buy to get the new one. then just give it away to another set of users. its just stupid. if microsoft did this with windows everybody would be flaming ms all day until something changed. im just sayin

+1. Everyone should be relaxed about this. This guy invented an operating system to replace the one Akai made.... if anything I am pissed at Akai. Why does someone have to do this outside of Akai? Why hasn't Akai struck a deal yet and just shipped with JJOS? Or integrated some of its features?

My point is.... some guy had to go out and make our MPCs better for us, because Akai wasn't satisfying. He did it successfully and wants us to pay for it. Its a good product, and he has the market monopolized. Blame Akai or invent your own OS to compete.

The software is the property of AKAI, regardless of whether or not he was the main programmer over at AKAI, it is based off of code that belongs to AKAI, which has been Pirated, modified, and sold to us.

That fact, on top of the price hikes makes it extremely shady, Regardless of how awesome the modification/features are.

Imagine the Production Assistant for Slum Dog Millionaire is selling Bootleg DVD's at a Flea Market, The Movie is Barely out in theaters, so this Gracious Pirate has circumvented the production company to give us what we want, a Burned DVD Disk and a Nice InkJet DVD Cover/Insert for 5 bucks. Only this time the DVD Pirate is selling us the disk for 50 bucks.

But I do agree 100% it is a Effing' disgrace that AKAI doesn't address issues themselves. humbug.

You do understand if that was true Akai would have taken legal actions a long time ago.

That and the bootleg DVD analogy doesn't hold up because I don't know of any bootlegger who takes a movie, makes it better and then sells it. You don't get the Dark Knight on bootleg with extra Heath ledger footage and extended storyline that was never filmed.....

Truth be told even if JJ created a new OS that would self destruct in 365 days it would still be better than what Akai has offered.
Now that's pretty sad.
Who knows maybe Akai will release an update for the 1k and 2500 but it seems highly unlikely.

That's whats up. I believe someone else needs to enter the OS market, or AKAI should step there game up. JJ has a monopoly and is starting to teeter on abusing it, but still his product is great and I tip my hat to what he has done and his little empire he has built.... He saw a flaw, exploited it, made it better, and bottled it and sold it....

The problem is... no one else has another product to offer. We need a AJ... an American Jeanius to program this shit.,... Or an American to outsource a Chinese guy to do it...

I said teetering on abuse because after awhile of having a monopoly anybody can abuse that power. Some people think he is abusing his customers with the upcoming release, some dont. I personally don't care. I just want my tools to work and to be efficient. I don't mind paying for that.... not to mention my OS1 is the jam and I love it more than anything.

My whole point was maybe the market needs to be more competitive.... but who can program another OS besides Akai and JJ? That is the real question.....
