Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

When attempting to assign a sample to a pad, whenever I have accidently pressed the pad bank button to change from A to B for example the display freezes and I find myself having to switch off the machine and losing any unsaved work done. Any ways round this (other than me not being a goon in the first place and not using the wheel). It seems odd not to be able to escape from this screen...

just keep hitting shift+save and the open window buttons...with most crashes you can coax the mpc back into life with these buttons....well except the crash i experienced yesterday :x

It's just happened again and I'm gonna lose all my beats from 4 hours work today  I'm bangin' shift and open window keys but nothin' doin'. I'm in the 'KEEP OR RETRY' screen on the mpc2k, I've pressed the pad bank button instead of using the wheel to assign a sample to a pad and it's more frozen than my peas. Please someone help...........

The best way around it is to save as often as possible... I usually save like every half an hour or so

from now on press the pad bank button BEFORE you press the pad you want to assign...
