Okay, so I just got scammed on an MPC 1000 and was previously going to go with an all digital approach(digital in on a turntable), but now I'm thinking about going with an MPC 60 or 60II with the upgrade....WHICH ONE is better and why?

If the MPC 60 is upgraded fully, what are the differences between it and an MPC 3000?

I use Soundforge and Acid currently, so I'll be using that to timestretch and chop samples and then throw them into the MPC 60

also what is this 303 sampler talk? I only know about the SP1200, what is are some good old school companions to the MPC...all I know now is the ASR10/88

The 60 & 60II are the same machine. The difference is the 60II was made with a plastic case (and released in 91, 3 years after the 60mk1) to cut down on production costs and has an added headphone jack. That is it.

The MPC 3000 has filters and more ram (32megs maxed as opposed to the 60's 1.5megs maxed). Also the 3000 is 16bit while the 60 is 12 bit.

You must be talking about the Boss SP303. For more info check: http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/products/en/SP-303/index.htm

if you got it upgraded you could use the mpc editor to make programs and load them into the 60.

The MK I is bigger than the MK II, and the I has an armrest.

and the 60mk2 has a headphone jack.

the sp 303 is cool. I am sequencing my 303 through the 60. This midi thing is cool. Thanks again elmacaco!

the sp 303 was made known from MADLIB. And if you want to hear it in action, get the JAYLIB album.

By the way, sorry to hear about your scam problem. Last year I found my MPC 60 MK2 on ebay, I was lucky he lived near L.A., we both agreed to bypass the shipping thing and I drove to get pick it up. The guy I got it from had 2 60's , sp 1200, some keyboard etc.. Anyway, I paid $800, without the upgrade. I got the upgrade like three weeks ago, and it's one of the best things I have ever done
