Stopping a long sample from playing out when sequencing.

When you're working on a sequence with a sample that's long, how do you stop it from playing all the way out.

I usually hit Mode/Trim then the Main button and it stops it.

I was wondering how some other heads do this or if there is a better way.

That works on the XL (just going into the trim screen). But I tried it on the 2500 two days ago and that didn't work until I hit main like you said. I don't think there is any other way. However, there is an option to have the sample shut off immediately when you mute it instead of it playing all the way through to the end after muting it. Other than that, I guess going into the save/load screen or just powering down the machine will work.

the mute group works too.

assign the sample to the same mute group as a pad with nothing on it. then while your trying to sequence the sample out, if you mess up or need to take it from the top, just hit the blank pad to cut it off.

works good that way too.

I found the best solution. I read some heads saying that this worked on the 4000. I tried it on the 2500 and... Blam! Works like a charm.

While you trying to sequence workn with a long sample, if you hit the pad and you don't want the whole sample to play out, tap on the STOP button a few times quickly (2 or 3 times) and it stops the sample from playing out.

This is will come in real handy, i know u feel me on that.

P.S. This joint on the 2500 got me in a Zone. Fire!!!

ALC is a monster wit the beats. I'm really feelin' his new ish. The 2500 really changed up his sound.

That tapping stop def works. When ur trying to get that groove with a long sample, it's a life saver to be able to stop it and keep working on it. lets me stick to my time theory.

most of the best beats i make are done in 15 mins. seems like they come out better when u go off feeling and not thought.

As said earlier, hit stop 3 times.

....I use to absolutely hate when people told me to read the manual so don't take this the wrong way, but grab yourself a cup of coffee (assuming you drink it) and spend a few hours reading the manual. You may even want to highlight or underline certain sections that you find interesting so you can refer to them later. You spent mad cash to purchase an Mpc, you owe it to yourself to at least learn all of it's functions ....you'll thank yourself later.

I actually did this the other day. Read about 75% of it.

Damn! That's pretty fast. It usually takes me 3-5 hours to finish my beats depending on how detailed they are. Some I finish quick, but not that quick.

Most of the beats MC's have been pickn lately are beats I did in like 15-20 mins.

It's when I just go off feeling and keep it simple. Not to knock taking longer, sometimes I do... but it seems like the beats I take longer on aren't as Fresh.

The MPC manual is my bathroom reading. I've read over that thing a bunch of times. I wish I would have read that tip in the manual. I was working on beats last nite and i'll tell you, it came in real handy. Where is it in the manual?

I've worked on just about all the different MPC's and I'm loving the 2500. The Chop Game is real serious on that machine, plus the internal hard drive and usb connection... Power.

The USB is a gift from God. I've been bringing my 2500 into my living room when I wanna chop something and still be near the family. So I just sit it right in front of this computer and plug my printers USB cable into the MPC. Then I just convert the joint I wanna chop to WAV format using Cheetah Audio Converter, drop it right into the MPC and chop away. This way I don't need to bring all kinds of extra cables and adapters out of the studio to sample through the record ins. I keep a spare power cable under my computer desk just for the 2500. So convenient!

I'm loving that USB connect to the computer.

I transfered my whole drum library onto the internal hard drive and like 10gigs worth of old analog synths. It's crazy to just go thru it now and grab sounds, assign them to pads and get busy.

Very powerful. I can take the MPC anywhere with all my drums, crazy!
