ummm......

16 pads? no?

Back on topic now.

People dissing this thing is absurd really. Hardly anyone has even touched it.

However, it does look kinda funny, but that's cool. They all look a bit funny when you get down to it. Functionality is most important. Of course, that is only my opinion.

I haven't read through the last part of the thread so much but.....

one question for BEATKANGz

are the pads touch responsive?

P.S. that young kid on the drums was nuts.

Peace.

Will the pitch and mod wheels be freely assignable to cutoff etc? How far away are you from having that 100% finished machine with lcd screen? Some screen shots of the different modes and pages would be nice.

BEATKANGZ wrote:Thanks for the feedback big Larry

It will have a 3.5 color video LCD the other screen is just for the proto.

Also we will have a software app that works just like the Thang stand alone with much bigger screens for editing and sequencing and the Hardware thang can be a controller for that as well. All the beats you make on the App can play on the thang and vice versa..... Seemless

That way you have a set up with the big screen at the studio that integrates with your DAW and then can unhook the thang and take it anywhere with you.

Now that is what I wanted to hear... something new... that is what I thought the MV should have been able to do.

I wouldnt pay for that sh1t. It looks like a bunch of melted plastic parts super glued together. Looks very Bootleggish to me like if they made it in their garage.

Truth be told I think allot of good gear/beat machines are ugly lookin with the exceptions of rackmounted gear. Out of MPC's I only like the looks of 60 mkI, 3000, 2500 and the 500.

Ugly:
ASR-X mkI
Alesis Fusion
SP-202
SP-303
SP-505
SP-808
Zoom SampleTrak
Command Station
MPC 2000
MPC 4000
MPC 1000 (Looks Better in Black though...)
MPC 5000
MC-303
MC-307
MC-505
MC-909

Don't judge these boxes by they're cases, the true beauty lies inside. 8)

You quoted me here yet no where do I say it looks "ugly"... I said the machine looks CHEAP. SP's and MPC's are known to be well built machines that last a long time and can take some damage while the Beat Thang looks like its about to fall apart just by turning one of those crappy nobs.

It looks like a 99 cent store toy dude...

Beatkangz, it's seem the more you state your claim, the worse you truly make yourself sound !

You said : "Thats the question you should ask your self...... Do you want old recycled ideas from old grey haired rockers or do you want new radical ideas from a new generation of people like you? "

Well, hold up one second here. These old supposed grey haired guys you are on about( rockers or not ) gave us the likes of the MPCs, Linns and SPs of this world that took hip hop in all directions. I would bet your petty life on the fact that they had no 'racial' or 'cultural' slants to the concept of thier respective units, just little more than having an honourable desire to provide a muscial soul with an intstrument with which they can bring their musical beats into reality - that is colourless and cultureless, mr brotha !! Your view again only disgusts the very word of decency .... and actual truth !

Nuff said ... and I won't be commenting further, barr saying that if you end up with a good product on your hands, are you gonna **** when some backwater redneck band are using your drumbox to underpin their latest redneck grabbing smash hit ? Please, talk sense ... for once in your life ... or, at the very least, open your mind and drop your foolish ignorance !

Oh, moderators I am sincerely sorry for posting in this manner, but this guy has it coming ( if not now, then someone will deal with his nonsense later ).

I'll say a little prayer for this guy - he truly needs some enlightening.

this is the first time posting on the actual subject of the " THANG", but wit so much debate , i need to ask one simple question, and hope to get 1 simple answer.

What are the 2 most important features (as far as actual music making is concerned, not pretty light and its nipples) that this thing has that the mpc doesnt have ?

I'm just saying, if they wouldn't have achieved anything by now, they would certainly not have achieved anything within the last two weeks, forum or not.

That vid is also on YouTube.

I wasn't expecting ya'll to actually answer my question if it was an Autobot or a Decepticon.

Anyways, the product looks interesting. I'd like to hear how it sounds in person, and how it sounds with my own samples. When is this product expected to hit the market and will it be available in Canada, and for about how much $ ?

I was wondering when you were going to show up One after that video.
They should include this thread in the manual, titled "The Haters"

As far as I now, these guys seem to want to work with us and actually consider
some of our ideas which is good thing.
If they can get the software and hardware to actually work the way he said it would this is going to be a great product.

I know it's still a few months away from release, but can the BEATKANGZ talk about some functions and features that had to be cut?

If you can go deeper and just elaborate on the whole process of starting out to now.
