ive searched but no cigar

i just got a scsi card for my pc. i was under the impression i could link the
pc to the iomega 100 then link that to the xl2000.

my problem is i hook everything up and that seems to be fine. when i grab a sample (wav.) download it to the zip and try to open it from the xl2000
there is nothing there. vise versa from akai to pc


it will load when i take the same wav. sample download it to floppy then open it up with akai floppy

ive also tried to save the wav. from floppy to akai to zip back to pc but the wav wont be there

ive formated the disk fat, fat 32, and fat16 nothing
ive saved the wav with just zip to computer turned that off, connected the zip to the akai and tried to load and nothing

im not 100% on this but i think its not possible.. u would need 2 separate zips one for the mpc and one for the comp. and just load the zip disks from one to the other...

right but i diconnected them and used them solo like if i had 2 zips

do you have an internal zip drive in your mpc?If not then like guzman said, you need 2 separate zip drives. one connected to your scsiout and the other as a series or parallelllllllllllll to your pc.

no its external zip---- iomega100

so that one exeternal zip was used alone on the pc --- to download wav.
then alone on the mpc ---to get the sounds

and if u keep disconnecting the scsi from the mpc back to the comp and vice versa u might blow the fuse in your mpc and i heard its a bitsH to replace..

they were both off when i disconnected and connected

just get a drive for your MPc and transfer via disk between both machines...so simple and you wont jack up your mpc that ways.......

Yes....two zip drives permanently connected to each machine is safer, & a lot quicker than one being continuosly disconnected & reconnected.

Was the zip disk formatted on the MPC? If it isn't that might be all you need to do. Format it on the MPC with no partitions. I use a Mac G4 but I've seen on other threads here that it is the same situation with a PC. The computer can read & save to an MPC formatted disk, but only the first partition if it has been divided up. The MPC will not read a computer formatted zip disk.

why dont u just get an audio cable so you can press play on your comp. and sample whatever on the mpc.. then u just save that on your zip that is hooked up to your mpc.. im pretty sure this is much faster than the way ur doing it now..

oh and my zip is hooked up to my external cd rom that is hooked up to my mpc, i have a little scsi chain going on..

thanks swiss...thats how i have mine set up.. and if i have a sound from the mpc i want to add effects to or sumttin i have my outs going from my mixer to my soundcard that way i can tweak it on my comp play it, sample it and get back to work..

yo whatever happened to your cobra edition mpc?? i never saw the finished product pics up..

werd, I got a scsi chain going too, I got a cd rom, a 1 gig hard drive and a zip 250. I disconnected the cd rom though, but keep it handy. people make a bigger deal out of scsi than it actually is. It's not complicated.
