MPC 2000 sound effed up!

whenever i hit a pad to play a sound i hear nothing but static....**** gay, does this mean my sound card is broken or wat? i dont even know wtf the sound card looks like so i havent tried unpllugging it and replugging it which is the only way i know how to fix things lol, help me out here!

How is your MPC hooked up to your sound card? Have you tried listening to the pad using headphones? Are you sure that what you are trying to play from the pad was recorded properly? ...

well i think my sound card is just like the normal set up, i bought it and didnt do any adjustments or anything, and yes i tried listening with headphones, but i havent tried to play a different floppy so im just gonna try that real quick, if its thats ima feel like a dumbass
