I believe someone else needs to enter the OS market, or AKAI should step there game up. JJ has a monopoly and is starting to teeter on abusing it, but still his product is great and I tip my hat to what he has done and his little empire he has built.... He saw a flaw, exploited it, made it better, and bottled it and sold it....

The problem is... no one else has another product to offer. We need a AJ... an American Jeanius to program this ****.,... Or an American to outsource a Chinese guy to do it...

NO
It's more like Akai knew that a particular food caused cancer and sold it anyway, then JJ found a cure for it.

You guys really need to get a grip on reality and leave JJ the f*ck alone.
If you want to complain direct it to the real problem, which is Akai.

Between crying over $115 and wanting new features for an old OS the forum has really come to nothing.

I guess it's time for me to move on.

I like JJ and the work he has put into it.

i think the price is high. regardless of how much I appreciate it though doesn't dilute the fact that its still based off of akai's code

i'm not sure why akai hasn't taken legal action (hrmm perhaps because they are lazy programmers and like to cut corners? we should all know that by now)

they don't take legal action for the same reason they don't put "Our hardware sucks without further 230$ investment!"

I don't think AKAI is INTENTIONALLY irresponsible, they are simply cheap and negligent, and going out of their way to sue would cost money and time, 2 things they are already unwilling to invest in software development. if hey did sue, they'd be forced to fix their software themselves, which they are unwilling to do.

the dvd analogy does hold water because the film is still in theatres, the features we want are: Coolness of having it first/ On a Disk/Cover/Case/cheap price...all thing the studio is unwilling to provide (regardless if they are eventually going to release it) the pirate caters to the market, with property that isn't his (even tho he may own the Cases, Disks, Printer) he is building off of the studios software.

BUT ALL THAT ASIDE this is a thread entitled "Anyone else pissed off" what did you expect to find? the rainbows and gumdrops thread is elsewhere ;)

if you can't handle debate and people having different opinions than you, then yes - you need to move on.

I would be an idiot if I didn't admit the features/stability are amazing.

once again, I LOVE THE SOFTWARE.

It's just odd is all the way it's been distributed etc...

you'd swear JJ was some of your guys mother the way you all get so offended.

eep.

I don't get the point here. You get a certain OS when you buy the AKAI 1000 or 2500... you work with it and learn it... then some dude pulls up in a white windowless van and says "hey kid, yeah you... come 'ear a minute... I've got this operating software that can make your work-flow and time well spent on your new/old MPC machine... naw kid, don't ask too many questions (looking side to side), just give me $110. and we good."

Now, what do you do?

That's pretty much what happened to me when I got my MPC1K in 2007. I was never expecting it, never thought some one would ever take the time out to create/hack/sell an operating system software, until I found this forum. Now I could have said "na duke, I'm all set, thanks." But I choose to see what this thing was about. Paid my money and haven't even tried the old OS since I got JJ.

After I made my purchase, I really started to look at the AKAI web site for updates and I've got a homeboy who works for AKAI and he never mentioned an update was coming. Should he let me know... maybe not... but I did expect AKAI to stay ahead of this JJ guy/group... but the last time I checked AKAI came out with 2.12 just a few months ago. JJ has pushed out 2 1/5 major updates on TWO AKAI machines with some very special functions added to it. Do I wait for AKAI or do I rock OS1, OS2 or OS2XL? I paid for OS1 and paid for OS2 when it dropped. Then when OS2XL came out I paid for that update as well... all those update prolly cost me $110 all told. But do I start getting aggravated because the 2500 OS is free... no frickin way.

I bought an XBOX 360 four or five months after it's release at what $400. beans (without the HD but having to buy extra controller and game)... maybe more, I forgot. But now the thing is $199. Can I go to MS and say "Hey, you lowered the price, I should get some money back!" and after I pick myself up off the ground from security escorting me out the building, I cry and go home a play a game to take my mind off of what just happened.

I guess my main point is this... I tell my wife ALL THE TIME... don't sweat things you have NO CONTROL over. And yes, JJ has control.

Word man plus dudes is bitching but whenever they request features they try to implement it right? I mean seriously I think we have been underpaying for the OS for a long time. If their sitting there programming left and right to suit the needs and requests of users why do they not deserve to get paid? Some of you guys are just f*ckin babies that want spoonfed answers, free sounds, youtube samples and now cheap OS's. Dudes aint built for this....when theres more bitching than beats dudes really aint built for this.

+1. Everyone should be relaxed about this. This guy invented an operating system to replace the one Akai made.... if anything I am pissed at Akai. Why does someone have to do this outside of Akai? Why hasn't Akai struck a deal yet and just shipped with JJOS? Or integrated some of its features?

My point is.... some guy had to go out and make our MPCs better for us, because Akai wasn't satisfying. He did it successfully and wants us to pay for it. Its a good product, and he has the market monopolized. Blame Akai or invent your own OS to compete.

this guy didnt invent anything to replace anything. this much you should be aware of. this is all made with stolen code. and you paid for it. which means you are in possesion of stolen property. why do you think nobody else has "made" an operating system for it? if it was that easy there would be at least 10 others doing the same thing jj is.

this is the only software dev in the world that forces you to purchase older models before the latest. the os2xl isnt $15 its $114 so get it straight. matter of fact. this is probably the only dev i have seen steal code produce a hack\mod version of it and sell it. anybody here ever pay for the m33 psp software? how about the x2 xbox software. and to clear some thing up. when we all purchased our mpc's we entered into a binding legal agreement about the software that is included with it. its call the "end user liscense agreement". look it up because it clearly states some things about using unsigned code.

wrong. do some research. at VERY worst, it's morally offwhite. if a pizza company makes a pizza, delivers it to a house and the resident doesn't pay, the pizza company IS NOT STEALING if it keeps the pizza.

Why are you so mad. Are we pushing you to purchase this thing? I hear your argument and respect our position but shoot son, you getten frisky with it. Then your gonna tell us you NEVER took anything in your life? A pen from the bank, a chair from work?...man back off a bit. If your cop open up and tell us that your really trying to pull JJ out in the open. But I think dude/crew is hidden like that thing from "Total Recall"! LOL!!! JJ POLICE!

After all this I hope your not using the OS... but to late, huh?
