The tempo q link feature has changed somewhat from os1 and 2. The good thing is that ,it is now specific to a particular program - formally if you assigned q link to tempo it would be globally assigned. The new way is much more convenient for live use, where you can have a specific track or tracks that you can flick too if you want to change tempo.
Now to the bad point.At the moment you can set a range on the q link e.g. 100-125 bpm. The range values move up in increments of 5 bpm.Formally the q link was done on a pecentage basis, this meant that you could use the qlink and the data wheel in the main screen for mixing the mpc into another source- you would nudge the mpc timing around with the qlink to keep things in beat- and set the tempo with the wheel on the tempo readout.If you want to change the master tempo value in this way you are always limited by the intial range set on the qlink.Which means you have less options of what you can mix in with what- unless you go back into the slider screen and change the values.I also find the 5 bpm minimum too coarse a value for the tempo nudges.
To sum up:I believe the % method is more practical and more flexible.Id like JJ to bring it back- but to keep the program specificity of the new method.Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
