Trying to connect Cd-rom to s/pdif interface board

Hi, I need to connect the cd-rom to the ib4d s/pdif interface board so that I can sample and play audio cd's. The manual says that I need to connect a digital audio cable between the two. The cd-rom does not have the digital audio cable that I need. Does anyone know the proper name for this cable and the type of connections it needs? Where to buy? Also in the manual it says to "plug in the jp1 jumper in the 1-2 (short) position". Does anyone also know how to do this? Thanks

As far as I can remember from when I installed a CD-rom into my 4000, the cable you need is a regular cable used to connect the same within computers. you can get them in any computer haedware store for next to nothing. Full instructions are in the manual, it's a piece of cake to do.

I don't know about it being a digital audio cable either, but it's the same cable/connector (4 pin) that Clint just referenced.

Nothing special about it since it's pretty standard and costs only a few cents to a buck or two.

Hi, yes this is what I was talking about. But does this cable have a name? When I go to a computer hardware store what should I ask for (as far as the type of connections)? 4pin? I emailed VST and they charge $12 but I figure I can get it cheaper. Im gonna try to see if my old PC has this cable in the Cd-rom!

My other question is about what to do after these connections are made. The reference manual says that I need to make the correct jumper settings on the ib-4d board. Specifically, it says "on the IB-4D circuit board, plug in the JP1 jumper in the 1-2 (SHORT) position". What does this mean? Thanks for your help guys!

Once you've actually opened the MPC casing it will all make sense, anybody can do the CD-rom upgrade with confidence.

Ok, the cable is actually referred to as a digital audio cable in the manual. It actually looks like 2pin instead of 4pin. Im gonna try radio shack and hopefully that should be it. Thanks for the input.

Looks like this piece is not as easy to find as you guys claim!! I found a computer store that sold the cable, it was 2 pin btw. The only problem was that the connection head did not fit into the spif board. The other head fit into the cd-rom though. See, I knew that there had to be a special connection head required! I have looked on the internet and they all have the same design that I found in the store. Does anyone know what the name of the required connection head type? All that I can say is that its a female connection, white in color, 2pin, and has some groove that fits into the male connection head. I would show a picture but I dont know how to post images!

Thanks, but I just ordered one from VST for $12. This one should be the real deal.
