MPC Keeps locking up or stalling when using CD's

I asked a similar question before but I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how I could resovle this issue with my MPC 4000. I can sample music off of a cd edit them and moments later the whole program freezes. This leaves me stuck and no way to save or retrieve the samples i just made. This is a problem I have ecountered a number of times. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Im sure its the drive its self
Mine is going out and im looking to replace it with a dvd drive

I don't quite know if it is the drive. I know it will lock up at other times but mainly when I am sampling. I try not to work on music and sample at the same time de to this problem. How much does a DVD drive cost?
