If you had a choice..

What would you choose, for reletively same price?

1. * PC (4 Gb RaM, 80 Gb HDD) FL Studio, MPD 24, KRK rp5's, Keystation E49, Presonus Audio Interface, USB Turntable, and 500 Gb External HDD

OR

2. * MPC 1000 (with: 128 Mb memory expansion, 120 Gb HDD, Akai HDM10 mounting kit, Sample librairies, etc.), Sampling Turtntable, KRK RP5's



If you had a decision, what would you go with?

Personally I'd probably go with the MPC.

I would go with the MPC set up too, computers are human destroyers....

i'd run the MPC setup. Computers promote laziness and you tend to be distracted by ur eyes.

now go post the same question on a fruity loops forum

even though i love the mpc more then any daw i disagree on one condition. if your about to enter the producer world as a begginer then I think your better of with the computer as a starter because,

1. you will be able to learn how to producer better not faster but better due to the visual aspect of things
.youl have a better understanding of how a beat is made

2. mastering, after you make a beat making a track is the whole other 70 % of energy, and trust me you dont want to use the mpc to mix

I speak from experience, i cant say for sure that for some people a mpc is the better starter but i have a bro and his my partner and he strated with ableton, he dosent have a mpc he wished he did but we notcied that since he had visual implimentation he has a far better understanding of production in general due to the easy interactions with a daw and my beats my have better soundign drums and swing but you could defiently see his advantages over mind of starting with a daw.

dont get sucked in the hype about ownin an mpc

if you want to be a beat maker only go for the mpc
if you want toe be a real producer throw yourself in the digital world first and then buy a mpc after you know how to cut well etc youl have way more fun on the mpc that way

For starters i would go for the 1th. But when u been workin with beats for a long time and want to make a beat in a diffrent and better way i would go for the 2nd.

I started making beats with Fruityloops for like 3 years or so and now im on the MPC,motif xs rack and midi keyboard.

Not to mention the MPC is worth more. You can build that computer for like $600.

thats how i feel too,i started on pc for years and it got boring using fl studio,so i decided to get the mp im glad i made that move . the mpc makes u work instead of draggin and droppin....

he's right. get a computer first...save up for a mpc later down the line when you figure out that beatmaking is what you really want to do. it's a large investment...

Uhmn, now let me think ..... ? Well, an MPC is actually a computer in it's own right, aimed at beat-making and sampling. It has a processor and circuitary inside, right ? Not exactly dissimilar to a bog standard computer then ... So, I guess I would go with this : MPC, Computer and Speakers - then I got the best of everything.

Oh, and I would avoid Akai MPD controllers like the plague - I speak from very bitter experience with the MPD32 ( what a joke of a unit that shish was !! Sold the piece of garbage and got myself an MPC1000 and now I am postively flying as far as my beats are concerned. Thing is, you can actually use the MPC as an effective drum controller for your VSTis and other virtual instruments anyways, best of both worlds in this regard ).

Throw down your cash for a combination and you truly got a killer setup at your finger-tips !

This is a good plan. It really is. You will need a computer eventually to make music... it is just the way the game is now, but depending on your workflow your hardware might be the most important part. I use to use a computer and a trigger finger to make my beats....

I moved away from that and will never look back. I still mix on my comp, but everything is usually built on my MPC. I do add some things in my DAW though. So my MPC is still the most important part of my setup, but I do have a computer in the chain.
