Hello,
I've a problem with some loop samples.

Here is a sample : http://www.allzik.fr/loopproblem.wav
that has looping points.

In any PC sound editor, it is ok (soundforge for example),
but when I put in on my MPC1000, the sound "clicks" like
when the looping point is bad !

How to solve this problem ?
I've hundreds of .wav that sound "well-looped" on PC, but
bad on MPC !

Could someone try the .wav file and tell me if it's the same in your setup ?

thanks a lot

Sometimes when bouncing down sounds from sound editors it puts a little loud blip at the beginning. I have noticed this is in some audio files.....

Why don't you just look at the manual for the MPC and change the loop point for the clips you have? Just change it a fraction so it moves past the blip. I don't think anyone feels like downloading and trying your loop files for something you could fix by a simple basic MPC function. Not trying to be rude, I am just saying this is probably why you haven't gotten many responses.

This is very easy to do in JJOS too....

If this doesn't work write about the problem in more detail.

Hello, thanks for answer.

Why don't you just look at the manual for the MPC and change the loop point for the clips you have?

I probably misexplained my question : I actually know the MPc manual :) and the way to change
the looping points, that's not the problem.

The problem is that I have hundreds of "well-looped" samples in .wav. My question was :
Will I have to find news looping points for all samples ? ??

If so, I think there is a problem on the OS : the looping points are stored in the .wav files,
and all softwares I used do read these looping points well.
When I open the .wav in the MPC, the loopings points seem good when you look at the waveform,
but when you hear with headphones, it "clicks" !

Maybe could you just test this file : http://www.allzik.fr/loopproblem.wav

thx

I am not by my MPC so I cannot test this right now, but that is strange because I have imported loops for live performance and have not noticed any problems.... The only time I notice weird clicks on a looping sample is when it is a low bass sample and the loop point lands really close to a certain curve in the sine wave or whatever.....

That is strange though. I might test it later when I am by my MPC if I remember.

yes, it's strange indeed.
just compare what you'll hear while looping in a PC software and
how the mpc loops it !
strange !
thanks in advance !

Welcome to the MPC sampling engine - basically it's pot luck whether your loop point will remain click free upon importing into your MPC and it varies between which MPC you have.

When we create the multisample packs for mpc-samples.com we effectively have to make three different versions. First is the computer audio editor version, then we import into an XL and create the SND version, and basically 50% of the samples need minor loop point adjustment. Then we take that SND version and import it into a 1000 only to find that 50% of those sounds have suddenly developed a click, so further editing is required. It's not crappy looping on our part, we've find the same problem on many pro soundfonts.

Most of the clicks can be fixed by a single point adjustment on the loop point. However some samples just have to be completely re-looped.

make sure there's no DC offset, that would loop well in an editor. yet the MPC might not compensate(?) the DC.

look at the wave very very close, ensure there's zero crossings (0 sample amplitude) at both ends.

This is what I was trying to say, but it wasn't so graceful. LOL.

Okay thanks a lot ! That's strange, isn'it ? Does it depend on the OS ?
Will it be solved one day ? Maybe with OS JJ ?

It *should* be the same on PC and MPC, no ?

So do I have to manually check all my hundreds of samples ?

normal looping was all but useless until altlooping (clicks still hard to get around) and now, crossfade looping.

are these things available for OS JJ 4.99J ?

if I modify my samples (a Rhodes samples soundbank, that will work now : since today,
OS JJ 4.99J has Sustain Pedal !)
and find good looping points on *my* MPC1000. will it be okay for other people ?
