Question-- Are people bothering to update their OS1, even if they primarily use OS2 and/or XL? I'm not sure if I should continue to update it...

yeah,

always keep the latest copy of any JJOS, i never know when JJ's gonna pull the plug, its happened b4.

i try to keep each version update, incase there's some character that gets removed in another update.

eg: OS2 v1.12 had a bug fix to the filter adsr, that changed its response, so all programs created in earlier OS2 sounded different at the adsr attack, and that attack was really dope, but it was 'technically' an error.... so if i want that response, i dig out OS2 1.11

but mbe thats going a bit too far.

do what u want.

Yeah I'm still updating OS1, since I still have unfinished work from back then, which I may complete at any given time, depending on the mood. But for the most part, I've taken some OS1 projects and recreated them on OS2. I'm not sure when I'll start working with OS2xl.... hopefully soon. I'm still trying to catch up on what's going on with it on this forum and at JJ's site. Just haven't had much time to soak in all the info.

yeah me too, i sent JJ's a request for the option of this, that , and some extra response curves after that.

it took me into the depth of customization possibilities, and i had a really fine sub bass/kik sound all because of the adsr settings in the pitch and the filter setups, it had a super sharp extra transient due to that "pre 1.12 spike" at the attack stage.

BRING BACK THAT "PRE 1.12 SPIKE"!

Okay, I'll probably do the OS1 update... especially since this may be the last one, or at least for a while.

So now you all got me interested in this spiky ADSR version of OS2! I have a copy of that version which I may load up. Could someone explain in more detail what they were doing with the filter envelope?

heheheh - it wasnt a big obvious effect, but if u had a sample - like a stab thats good with a wet LPF , then the adsr to the filter was giving a tiny bump at the start, which meant that sharper more electro types of 'cracks' were possible, and was very refreshing to someone familiar with these mpc envelopes.

I still use OS1, but it seems like I'm the only one on this board.

This update is great. I have to install it. But I'm wondering if I have to take all of my samples off of my MPC and then install it?

I forgot.

Could someone help me with the process?

no it shouldnt affect anything on the HD, i advise u put the OS - .zip on the CF card, load it up, then u will need to follow onscreen instructions when to reboot etc...

just to be clear what os are u on, and then u are to upgrade to 4.99J right?

ok, thanks

I did that and it loaded it and it told me to turn it off and back on again and I did and it loaded normally. Is there anything else I need to do or am I good?

Also, do i need to keep the bin file on the CF card or can I delete it?
