recording

Im about to buy a mixer, a cheaper behringer, what confuses me is what am I going to need to record whats being inputed to the mixer?

i dont get what you mean? 1/4 inch cables to hook up the sound from your mpc, and a mic cable to hook up to your mic!

maybe you mean that you need some kinda recorder? try a tape machine or computer and start learning about busses and auxs. take a look at www.soundonsound.com and do a search for recording basics.

True. when you cop that mixer hook up the outs of your soundcard to the aux returns on that mixer of yours. The main outs of the mixer to the ins of your soundcard. MPC stereo outs go into mixer ins. This is only relevent if you have a computer... I suggest a mackie or realistic 4-channel peep that. Dont get a behringer. XLR inputs are fuzzy and sometimes receieve radio signals. Your also limited to actions and its got a wierd ass power supply.

What I mean is I want my little studio to become fuly sufficent. As in I can have everything go into the mixer, including mic, and what im asking is what do I need to record everything to (cd or a disk to put in my non use in studio comp).

im in same position as pawn I think. What do you mean when you say "track".
also is there anything cheapish that has a 4 track and a cd burner in one or are we talking big money. Like an old style 4 track except with a cd burner. or do ou have to get them separate if you go that road.

Its just when you have somethin soundin great on your mpc and then by the time you put it through your soundcard its only as good as your soundcard (mine is the lowest of the low so maybe some are ok)so it just seems a waste.ill stop now.

Simple. Just get a better soundcard.
The Emu 0404 is a decent card. It runs 16 effects on the cards memory too, so you don't need a supercomputer to have some fun.
If i was on a budget and needed a new card i woould cop that.

Tracking is basically another term for recording...........Example: I have the aw4416, this is what I track with or you can say this is what I record with!.....

Thanks for the suggestion. I t doesnt have a mic in but ive been recording vocals into the MPC and it sounds fine so I could just transfer wav files into the computer and put it all together on the computer.

The quality of the soundcard does has nothing to do with burning cd's. In fact, you don't need a soundcard at all to burn cd's.

In my opinion I would think so, or maybe not!..... If I were you I would purchase a descent soundcard because Im the type of person thinking that if you buy something cheap, your productions might sound cheap........But hey thats just me and my opinion, and you know what they say
