Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

hello

i have a MPC4K. i am attempting to make my first MPC sample CD containing drum hits that i've collected over the last 10 year. I have 353 programs as .AKP files and the actual samples are 16bit 44.1kHz wav.

what other MPCs load .AKP files for programs or is it just the MPC4K?

i am not sure whether to market this sample CD just for the MPC4K and S5000 / S6000 sampler or whether I can also market it for other any other MPC models.

if anyone can answer this little question for me i would be very grateful

when will the mpc 5000 be able to load .akp files?

how would i go about translating the akp files and what would be the more viable format?

cheers

The MPC 5000s OS2 is slated for a Spring release. The best format would probably be MPC Program Format w/ .wav samples which should cover all MPCs with the exception of the 60 and 3000. I haven't tested compatibility lately so I am not sure...but MPC Programs with samples in the .SND (MPC sound) format may cover all MPCs.

You can use Awave like dabmeister suggested. You can download it and try it out for free for 30 days. If you pay $99 you get a text file key to unlock it for full use. Its a nice application.
