PIcs of your cribs..

We've worked on this room a lot (we bought an old house and fixed it up, so my studio would move from room to room during the refurbishing over the past several years until now where we finally have what you see here.)

As far as the rack, there are a couple BassStations, and a DrumStation in there.
Gotta get my analog fix someway until I can acquire a moog and hopefully a real TR-808 someday.
There's also an A-station and an E-mu Vintage Keys (original model) in there.
Also A JD-990 on the top that the MPC3000 is sitting on top of.

If you were referring to the rack in the desk, it's a bunch of interfaces for the pro-tools rig - it's my mixer, 64 inputs so everything plugs right in. There's also a headphone amp and a mic pre and couple midi interfaces in there at the bottom.

These days, I'll do whatever it takes to make a buck. We actually have another room where we are working on to setup to do vocals so we can be a bit more "pro" when the need arises.

As far as the overkill on the wheels and MPC's - I sold my mpc3000 years ago and missed it. At the time they were just too expensive to get another one so I bought the 60 with the intentions of getting the os and scsi upgrade. By the time I was ready to buy the upgrade I came across this poor, abused, and mistreated 3k for less than the upgrades for my 60. It took me a solid week to nurse the poor thing back to health, but by the time she came around it seemed that the 60 and her were both getting along great so I've kept them. I like them both. The SP-1200 was something I always wanted since years ago when I had an SP-12 and sold it, so one day I had the misfortune of running across a super clean one AND having the money to blow, so there went a wad of cash
The wheels, well those silver ones were my first "real" 12's that I bought too many years ago (spent my high school graduation money on them.) Those things just won't quit! I've had them so long that they are just almost sentimental. Then when Technics came with the extra pitch control of those mk5G's we bought one at a good deal, and then the next year bought another one - just as we ran across good buys on them. I also have a teenager and a younger son and both are devoloping an interest in music so it works out well, they can destroy the cheap stanton needles and keep off my ortofon concords

I'm worried I'm starting to develop OCD with my gear lust I think I spend more time looking for equipment deals than I do making music sometimes.

I know what you mean man... the internet is amazing for finding the stuff you looked at years ago for fairly cheap.. I have had to take a break looking at craigslist, ebay, and kijiji for a while because my pockets are getting kinda low. next week I got a deal ligned up for another crown power amp for 2 bills so after that... I am staying clear of the deals for a while. I have some other things I need to get, but I am gonna put it on hold for a while untill I can start making some more money from music again.

It's the original Mackie HUI. Aside from the early JLCooper stuff, this was the first "control surface" that was marketed/produced specifically for ProTools. It's kinda like having a mackie control universal and the big knob all in one box, wth a couple extra mic pre's thrown in for good measure. It is a few years older too, so that plus the fact that it was marketed just to the high-end pro tools crowd several years back makes it appear to be built a little better than the newer ones (not as much plastic). Oh, and this one has some metering lights built in. It's just a control surface though, it doesn't do any mixing on it's own. It does have a talkback section built in though - and you can find them 2nd hand for cheap and they still work (two of my main criteria when I was shopping for this

Question for tvent. I noticed you have at least two CAD mics in your arsenal, I haven't seen these around in a hot minute.

Thanks Nothelle. I actually made that myself. It wasn't my intention when I built it, but it also does a good job acoustically of spreading/scattering the sound.

Sharp eye dabmeister, yes I have two e100's that I have owned for probably 15 years. I love them and the only thing I have ever had to do was replace the batteries (last year if you can believe that!)
I recently added the e300. It is the newer run that has the shock mount.
I haven't gotten to use it enough to really say for sure how I like it, but my 4 yr. old sounds great through it
I don't think you can buy better mics for the money, or heck double the money - although at some point I WILL get me an AKG414.

Im guessing those mics are CAD Equitek e100's, correct?

If so, how do you like them, and what do you primarily use them on?

Ive got one that Ive yet to use, just order the shockmount for it from B&H Audio
