Chops don't sound right

Ok so heres the problem: I have a sample that I wan't to chop in 16 parts. I chop it, and set the tempo to 88, because I know that's the right tempo for the sample. But when I play the sample it just doesn't play smooth, it sounds as if theres parts missing between the chops. Like imagine if the sample should sound like this: _____ but instead it sounds like this _ _ _ _ Like it's stuttering. I know it's not quantizing issue becauset it sounds the same even when I play it when im not recording. Didn't have this problem when I was using OS2

Please help!

So you already chopped it? And then when you replay it there is space? Is that what you are saying?

Yeah, after chopping it when im playing the sample on the pads, it sounds like theres part missing from the end of every sample. It sounds pretty much the same as if you have recorded a chopped sample and you dont have the tempo or the the tune of the sample right.

Play around with the adsr envelope in the amp settings, you need to have a long release, also adjust the release settings when you are actually chopping

Thanks! Hopefully I can correct the issue by playing with the release..If not, then I'll just have to pitch the sample down.

Or bump the bpm to 89.................You could also mono those samples so they cut each other off.

Is the sample a clean loop b4 chopping? And the BPM may be slightly off.

try 1/4 Notes instead of 1/2 Notes

im with bitch-ass........ er i mean ritch-bitch on this one. your sample isnt 88 so raise the tempo and it will fill the gap. try to rec the seq with a tight quantize and then just start upping the tempo until it plays smooth. that will tell you the true tempo.

actually, the tempo of your DAW will be different from the MPC-1000, or indeed any other platform. even 2 softwares can have slightly different tempos
