At least you guys (with 5k's) have a bit of optimism to go by. That's good, y'all have something positive to look forward to.

Even if I just received the bug fixes identified in the Bug Report Thread, I am more than happy with the MPC 5K. OS 2 is icing on the cake. And strictly from a forum perspective, it will minimize the constant hate threads from people that don't use the 5K.

how will os2 do that? Anyways who cares if people hate on the 5k... if you can make some awesome stuff come from the 5k... then it is good for you. If someone doesn't own the 5k then they have to try and make awesome stuff come from another machine or what ever.

if I owned an MPC 10millionXXXL I doubt my beats would be much less then they are now because as of now... the machines or software have not been my limit.... getting the specific sounds I want have been more of a limit. (I have some sounds I want to go out and record in this place but I am not physically capable to make it happen ... )

OS2 probably won't stop the hate but there will be certainly less posts about what it doesn't do...me thinks :D

By the way...we are less than 24 hours away from the Super Bowl! Go Steelers!

In older MPCs, if you have a 16 bar sequence and you change it to 8 bars...bars 9-16 will be truncated. This is not the case with the latest MPC.

Another thing I like about the newest MPC is the way it mutes. In the older MPCs, if you have a long one shot sample playing and you mute it, it will continue to play to the end. The MPC 5000 does this as well but has another option called Instant Track Mute. With this turned on, the long sample continues to play but at zero volume. You can use this to create a stuttering effect or DJ style beat juggling with two loops. The MPC 5000 has plenty of these small improvements that most don't talk about.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm thinking of making the jump to the 5k in the next few days. I'll report back with my impressions.

It's not a bad move as long as your have a good understanding of your goals.

I'm still on a probational period with the 5k.
My 2500 went close to 18 months after the original release before it developed the ghost pads.
I think that's the reason I didn't like the shipped with bugs introduction.
The 5k will have to do 18 months and a day before I exhale, but it does feel a little more solid than the 2500 did so who knows.

Didn't JJ have this feature before the 5k was released?

One thing to keep in mind is that regardless of SOME of the many(check bug thread) existing bugs being fixed in 2.0, the new features are bound to introduce several new bugs. I would wait for the next bug fix patch after 2.0 to make a final decision. Especially since that will likely be the last update.
