I finally got a CF Card drive to save to on my MPC 2000
You can read all about that on this post
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=106383

Now as you can see on that post
I came up with the best way to transfer files over
from zip to cf if you were stupid like me and named
your files over 8 letters
However
What I have discovered now is that everytime you put your
zip disk into your computer Mac or PC
you run the risk of corrupting the files
and the mpc will no longer read them

So what I have decided to do is
add an extra step of copying the .aps file you wanna transfer
or pgm file or snd file
to a blank zip disk
by loading the first zip with your saved sounds onto your MPC
and then taking that zip out the drive and never
ever letting that zip near your computer
then putting your new blank zip disk into the mpc zip drive
re saving your loaded kit onto the new blank zip
and letting that zip be your go between zip
because if the computer **** up that zip
at least you have a copy of your og stuff that the mpc can read

This is so annoying
PS
Anyone wanna donate me some zip disks
or trade me something for some
Thanks

Just got done doing the same thing (transfering zips to cf, and then backing up my sounds to my computer) BUT I just loaded every prgm., renamed and even cut EVERY SAMPLE!!!!!! then saved to cf.. It was no joke(thank god for daisy chaining) I started mid Dec. just finished the other day!! I did this about a couple hours a day..Just through on some movies and went to work...

can I daisy chain from my zip drive to my cf drive
the place I bought it told me it would be easier to do it
the way I described
I will need a cable that goes from scsi to the end that goes into the cf drive

you should daisy chain it. i did this with all my xl work befor i sold it. i had stuff on zip on cf and on hdd. and i wanted it all on the hdd. i also had to save all work as mid too. cause my end result is to get a 4k and be able to use all my work there too. it was a pain but with all my drives hooked up to the xl it wasnt that bad. never touched the pc for any of it.
also i have some zip disks layin around. what you want to do?

Here is an exchange between me and MPC Stuff dot com
who I bought the cf drive from
also to let you know I tried hooking up my zip drive to the MPC
Then chaining the cf drive from the zip and it did not work
for the other way around I need to buy a cable but I do not think
it is going to work
Here is what they said :

The drive is internally terminated so it may not be able to be daisy chained - You can un-terminate the drive but I am unsure if it will work that way.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can be of any help to you.

and then they said this

Here is the best fastest and safest way..

Get a 100 MB Zip Drive on ebay http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid ... Categories

Connect to your computer and put all the files from all your zips into a folder

Get a USB card reader (avail on our site) and load all the files to the card.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or if we can be of any help to you.

Ok turns out I had to switch something in the back of my zip drive
I think to terminate ?
Either way when I eject the Zip drive the CF drive is read able
Now anyone got any tips for a transfer system?

I plan to do what the dude who replied here did
Watch DVD's and transfer away however in the process
I will probably be tweaking old beats and making them better
and then saving that version to CF

Now does this mean that once all my zips are transfered to CF card
I can then pop that cf card into my USB CF Card reader and open up
my kits on the RS-16X Program and make beats on my laptop?

I bought that program a few months ago and still have not really used it
Or figured it out
any tips ?
