well, when the bpm is 99, the 1/16 hihats are gonna be fast.

Oh, wait, do you mean "Note Repeat" (same button as Tap Tempo)?
You set the timing for that in the Time Correct (T.C) page. It might be on 1/32 or 1/16, try set it to 1/8....

what i said was i already knew it was going to be a fast-paced drum because it was at 99bpm cuz the loop only loops right at that tempo! MY question is there an way to slow the loop down so my hihat wouldn't sound so fast WHILE KEEPIN THE LOOP THE SAME and looped correctly you get it know? holla back

you need to time-stretch it in a different application by the sounds of it (soundforge, etc)

Southside of the Chi... you mean Gary, Indiana?

1) Have you tried changing the sample pitch at the Pad? Setting it to "-2" will slow a 99BPM loop down to 88.2. Like slowing a tape or deck down.
That's the easy way, some folks dig that sound.

2) But if you want the pitch to stay the same, but the loop bpm to change, then you need a little time-stretching. The MPC1000 can't do that itself, you need to use a PC or Mac WAV editor. Audacity (PC/Mac/Unix) can do it for free, or use SoundForge, CoolEdit/Audition, WaveLab, whatever you have.

If you do this, you have different methods you can use, try them all see which sounds best. Using Audacity terminology:
- "Change Speed" is like retuning the sample at the MPC1000 Pad as above, but the change is permanent.
- "Change Tempo" will stretch the loop, but keep the pitch the same - but you get digital artifacts, can sound weird if you go too far (the Fat Boy Slim sound!) . This might be what you want.
- "Change Pitch" will make the sample sound higher or lower, but keep it the same length. Can also leave digital artifacts if overused.

3) If that's not what you mean, then we don't know what you mean...
- start by telling us what BPM you want your track to be?
- You're talking about your hi-hats being too fast, but are these hi-hats in a sample loop, or individual hits?
- And clear up what you mean by "too fast"... do you just mean the BPM of the whole track is too fast, or are you getting too many hits using Note Repeat?

Nah, just playing around - if I look on the map, if you start at Chicago and keep going south along the lakeside, you get to Gary, right? Like I would know, being a Scottish guy living in Ireland?
