Greetings. Long time musician, newbie at the MPC.
In a studio I work, the mpc is used as a sequencer for a variety of keyboards using a roland Juno as the 'slave'(the keyboard played to control the others).
As I am compiling my at home studio, I recently purchased an MPC2500 with the JJOS. I have midi cables that I purchased and believe are plugged in the right spots.
First list of keyboards:
Yamaha s90 <--would like to use this as both a midi controller and sound generator
Access Virus TI <---sound generator
Nord Lead <--sound generator
I have all of the keyboards plugged into the corresponding slots......midi 'out(from the MPC)' to Midi 'in' which I plugged into the midi 'in' slots of the corresponding keyboards expect for the yamaha which has both the midi in as well as the midi 'out' plugged into the midi 'in' slot on the MPC.
I read through the owners manuals of the virus and nord and believe that they are ready to go(in sequence mode)....the problem, I believe, is with the s90(which I also read through the owners manual). I do not hear any sound from any keyboard nor is there any sound(or midi signal) recorded. I am aware of the midi channel being set correctly on the mpc(per my miniscule experience in the studio) to the corresponding midi out and track on the keyboard. It appears that there is a signal recording into the MPC from the s90 just no playback sound.
I do not have the mp plugged into speakers yet, I have only been using headphones which I think is fine for monitoring at the moment.
Can anyone help? Does anyone use an S90 out there that can help?
Thank you so much for your patience and more importantly your help
