Black pads for the 1000

Thanks for the pics, Lunatic .... It wasn't that I didn't believe you, but more of how on earth did you not fcuk up in attempting ?

As I am really interested in dying mine at ho,e, just how hot did you get the water and how long did you leave your pads in the dye for ? Do tell ...... ??

ok the temp: i boiled the water with the dye in it to fully dissolve the powder. then i backed off the temp to low on my stove and let it sit for 30min. after letting the water cool down i dropped in the pads and left them in for 30min. this was on my 1000 pads. on the 60 pads in the pic it was only 20min. but i can tell you this. the newer pads are a different material. the older pads consist of 2 types of rubber. the top of the pad is softer than the body. and that is why the pads themselves look really dark and the body lighter. the newer pads are closer to the body material of the older pads. it takes longer for the dye to take and darken with these. my 1000 pads are a darker grey\blue than the original light grey. and those 60 pads look black but they are really a super dark blue. although you can only tell the blue in good light. that controler only took 15min in the orange bath. but the water was hotter than when i did the pads. the hotter the water the faster the color will set in. but the more risk you run of warping materials. the basic rule is the longer you leave it in the darker it will get. and the black dye is very strong.

i doubt that. the color is too rich on the black 1000 pads. i do believe that the price is way too high. especially when you can buy a regular set of black 2000 pads for half the price. and considering the 2k pads are bigger (more material). it has to be cheaper to manufacture the 1k pads.

No, we don't havea a Wallmart over here in London, England ( Uk ), Lunatic.

Hang on, then again, I think Wallmart recently bought out Asda, one of our national grocer chains ( the other biggies include, Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrison and Marks n Spencers ).

However, there are plenty of retail outlets over here in teh UK that sell rit dyes ... only we pay twice the price you guys do over there in the US. A rit dye here is about £3.99p - that's just over $4.00 US ( day light robbery, I know !! ).

Wallmart have owned Asda for about 5 years or so, and £3.99 is around $6.

Well, Coz, what can I say ? The last few years have been a bit of a blur to me ( regarding the Wallmart ownership of Asda timescale ).... been real busy in life, you see.

And, yes, at today's exchanges, the £3.99p is around the $6 US mark .

yo,. im inquiring about the rit dye, or marsh ink,, which one should i use to dye my buttons?? i dont want dye all over my fingers after using my mpc,.

dont use ink...it will wear,,,dye is soaked into the pores of the material so actually u r turning the material a different color,,,if u have a paint shop near you like a "hobby paint shop" canvas type stuff....they have dyes that are amazing and will work much better than rit,,,but nothing against rit because ive used it for many things all the way from r/c car parts to zipties...only thing it wont work on is that clear plastic ..so yeah go with the dye,ul be happier in the end

Well if you're going to post information at least get it right! Like anyone gives a **** that "Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrison and Marks n Spencers" are our big grocer chains! The sarcasm was obviously lost on you "brotha".
