pad problems

ok so im playin with my mpc with mornin, and when assigning samples to pads, i dunno if the pads are f*ckd or what, but pads will start sharing eachothers note assignments, meaning more than one pad will play the sound..
and they will trigger eachother.. grrrr

anyone know whats going on ?

What midi note assignments do you have? did you change them mid program? Do you have a master midi note assignment set? Or did you load sounds into an existing program that has simultaeneus pads set?

Which mpc? 60 or 3000?

If all else fails try an initialize all parameters.

naw new sequence, new samples.. its real weird..

when i hit a pad, it will cycle through a few samples.. but it doesnt say anything about them being assigned to eachother

did you check the midi note numbers assigned to the pads? did you initialize parameters?

switch things like preferances for Step Edit functions (Paste Cut etc..) back to default?
I cant think of any other "preferances"

Nothing major, just that kind of thing. Midi channel names perhaps.

The midi note number thing might be it, since if you have pads with the same number they will refference the same sample.

What does it say under sounds > program when you hit the offending pads?

it cycles through the pads/midi #'s that it effects..

I would do an init all params and load the individual samples and create a new program, see if it happens again.

in the mpc60(os version 3.1 anyways), you assign sounds to MIDI NOTE NUMBERS, not pads... then you assign the one of the 64 pads(16 pads each bank, with 4 seperate banks... ) to a MIDI NOTE NUMBER that coincides with the sound you want to play on that particular pad... you do not directly assign a sound to a pad, the interface between the pads and the sounds is the MIDI NOTE NUMBERS!!! im not sure if this is the same with other OS versions on the MPC60 or not, but i assume that it is the same on all MPCs since MPC does stand for: MIDI PRODUCTION CENTER!

i just recently figured this out, but.... i think that the key is to set up your pads and midi note numbers in a nice sequential order or configuration so that it is easy for you to remember which note number corresponds to which pad in your MASTER settings... it all starts to make more sense(after the initial difficulties/trials and errors) when you start to use the MPC with an external sampler, then the importance of MIDI NOTE NUMBERS becomes more apparent... in the MPC60 you can program your MIDI NOTE NUMBERS in 2 modes, MASTER & PROGRAM... ive only used the MASTER mode so far since it will make every program that you create have the same configuration/layout... i havent figured out a reason to or had the need to program the MIDI NOTE NUMBERS differently for seperate PROGRAMS yet, but im sure it will come in handy down the road when i get a bit deeper into the machine...

initializing all pad to note assignments fixed the problem..

annoying cuz i dont know what I did to cause the prob, but i guess it could be worse!

messed with the midi note assignments somehow.

THANKZ GUYS ,I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THAT WEIRD SH*T GOIN ON WIT THE PADS.....I STILL THINK ROGER LINN SHIPPED ME SOME BAD CHIPS{3.14}BUT THATS ANOTHER STORY
