MPC 5000 OS 2.0

Hi everybody

I've just spoken to Akai UK & they are now saying that OS 2.0 will not be released until July 09
Has anybody heard any other release dates???
Why do Akai say one date then move the dates just when we are all getting excited.
Hopefully the person at Akai got the dates wrong…

PS Its still a great machine, but would love OS 2.0 sooner.

On the website it says feb 09! if it has been put back im going to have to send it back as im having several annoying problems with it. no sounds will play in the grid edit, and my hard disk keeps dissapearing. was hoping the new os might help

Hi Don

Have you installed OS 1.02, I've found a few annoying problems with my MPC but not the ones you have listed.
If I can help in anyway please let me know & I'll try out on my machine.
Two heads could be better then one.

well, i don't mind if they wait till june or july 09.

...probably this will be the last major update, other than a possible bug fix update.

so, ...the more time they spend, ...the more work they are putting into it, ...and the possibility of more new and improved features, and a more buggless entry into the market.

...where is the down side here?

...i personally plan on using this machine for another 5+ years.

Like you said, the most they can do is bug fixes... but thas about it. This is a good machine and its mad easy to use!

Wtf now they need to get that sht online.Why are they waiting for?

There is bunch a stuff they can add to it,and i don't think akai will drop another mpc in two-three more years.

Don't temp me. I can think of 2 dozen features I would like to see added in a future MPC

hey diddley im thinking its a hardware problem, everytime i access the hardrive whether to load or save it crashes and then the hard drive cannot be fond, hd not installed or something, i been thinking i need to send it back but been holding out for os2 to see if by a miracle works it out fo me, but i bought the thing to make beats on and been using it none stop(without using HD), right now i dont wanna be without it for however many weeks that it takes to fix.\

also an annoying problem is after 10 mins (approx) of use the grid edit stops working, when im in grid edit i cannot hear any sounds on the pads or record any in grid edit screen.

I have got os2 and have tried re-initialising and putting the os on it again!

for the simplicity of my music, i couldn't think of any... but by all means, if you got more features, post them!

Have you thought about or tried formatting the Hard Drive(back up your stuff before you do it just in case you might not know)? Or, you should call Akai tech support and see whats up, Askia might have a good clue about what to do as well.

1. Connect MPC to PC and backup hard drive files
2. Re-install OS 1.02
3. Hold down ERASE while powering up to re-initialize
4. Reformat hard drive
5. Transfer files from your PC back to your MPC

I follow these steps when I have issues with any of the latest MPCs. If you lose your hard drive after this, I would contact Akai technical support.

the os won't be 2.0 it will be 2.2 .

OS 2 will be released in Spring 2009, not July 2009.
