Is this 4000 a good buy?

I'm thinking about buying the 4000. I have never owned a mpc before and know this can be a bit hard to learn in the beginning, but i am prepared to use the manual allot until I get the workflow:)


I would appreciated any feedback if you think its a good buy!

Considering I've seen some badly beatup 4k's on the bay, this one seems like it's in real good condition. I noticed it's been through a face lift already too.

It's actually a blue version that had a white top put on it.

See if you can contact dude about it and maybe he'll cut you some slack.

Is the gray pads, the only thing that separate this from the original white version?

I really don't wont to buy a bad buy:P


Maybe its safer to buy a new 2500..? But its seem I get more possibilities with the 4000 once I get over the much bigger learning curve:)

Well it was the grey pads and aluminum back panel that gave it away in your case. And to be honest, there's no major concern about the original owner swapping out the top cover. I doubt that it would have a lot of milage on it from the looks of it.

I can still get practically new MPC 4000s in Japan. But they cost $2600-$3600.

I would hold out.. its a good buy, but I've seen better offers with way more features, like 8 outs and 512mb of sampling...

Yea, this is very good offer, everything for 1200$ and it's blue which means it's newer. People are talking shit that our blue models are worse than white ones, but I can't see why (bugs and other bla bla bla crybabys shit). I had some troubles with mine, seemed big but resolved it. So as long as there is a way to overcome it, it's good to have newer one :p
I've bought mine 2 months ago for 1400$ and I knew I could find better offer, but 1400$ is not overpriced and I had to get it very fast so I did it this way, also I don't have 8 outs and effect board. Mine is in very good condition, pads are working with no complains so I'm happy.
To sum up 1200$ for blue model with 8 outs and effects is tha shit.
About 2500 it doesn't seem for me that 4K is harder 'cus JJ OS adds tons of new functions and really makes 2500 considerable to buy, but 2500 is similiar to 1K which I liked, but.... Now when I have 4K I can say with no doubt that it was gr8 exchange and it's workflow totally kills 1K.

However..with the dollar at an all time low in Japan..even a gear slut like me doesn't want to buy any new gear. I let a nearly brand new MPC 4000 and 3000LE slip through my fingers because of the exchange rate. A maxed out MPC 5000 could cost you $4000 in Japan.
