If you have some inside info, please share.

Another thing I like about the newest MPC is the way it mutes. In the older MPCs, if you have a long one shot sample playing and you mute it, it will continue to play to the end. The MPC 5000 does this as well but has another option called Instant Track Mute. With this turned on, the long sample continues to play but at zero volume.

Didn't JJ have this feature before the 5k was released?

One thing to keep in mind is that regardless of SOME of the many(check bug thread) existing bugs being fixed in 2.0, the new features are bound to introduce several new bugs. I would wait for the next bug fix patch after 2.0 to make a final decision. Especially since that will likely be the last update.

Well your right but not really, why would you wait another year to buy mpc 5k or some other hardware when by then you could bang out 300 beats outta goddamn thing.Every hardware would have it's issues that shouldn't stop you of making good music.

If you look at the features that v2 will be giving us it doesn't appear to anything so earth shattering that it should drop a heavy amount of bugs.
I would think based on the bug clean up that they have had to do thus far they aren't looking to rush this or cause it to hurt 5k sales.
I can see no need to not download and hit the track running when it's available, it's just to easy to go back to the previous OS if it was problematic.
As ToOxSicK stated you have to look at it from the point of all the possible things it could do to make you come up with some useable tracks.
As far as waiting to purchase the 5k, nows a good time to buy things like the 5k, Fantom G etc because dealers are both wanting and needing to sell so they are more inclined to give you good pricing.

What makes you think my beat bang'n is on hold until I purchase a 5k?

I'm a cash on delivery type of guy. Instead of wishing and hoping for updates and bug fixes that may never come, I now buy assuming that there will never be an update. Anything I purchase I am accepting that it is worth the value I paid as is on the date of purchase. I will only buy if the current features and bugs are acceptable. This is not the case with the current 5k so I don't own one. I've been there and done that with the wishful thinking and empty promises. Most hardware has issues but you want to know what you are buying so I will wait until the dust settles. Besides, the longer you wait the cheaper it gets. With the economy the way it is people are going to be dumping their gear at insane prices as they get more and more desperate for food and rent money.

So what show stopping bug have you encountered with the 5K?

Obviously, I don't own one as I clearly stated. I've tested one but not enough to find many bugs. There is a bug thread. Not too hard to pick out the valid and confirmed bugs. I consider some very serious and the amount of those are unacceptable for me to consider the 5k right now when coupled with some laking features. It's really personal if one considers a particular bug show stopping or an OS buggy. Some people will find anything that a company puts out as acceptable no matter how many terrible bugs. Others, have a higher quality standard and don't just take any low quality crap someone gives them for the sake of being a fan boy.

I may very well fall into your 'fanboy' category. And being as such, I had 9 MPC models to choose from based upon what they offer and how stable their operating systems are. If I was buying an MPC today, I would still make the same choice.

Now that's what's up.
You gonna love the blue screen, works well in different lighting and doesn't seem to fatigue the eyes.
now you can join in the countdown to OS 2 since it says Feb 09.

Just received my 5k & so far it hasn't exploded on me! I have much to learn and get used to getting around but so far it's solid. Ordered fully loaded.

I'm diggin' it!
