Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By larquin Fri Feb 06, 2009 3:05 am
Just bought an MPC 2000 from a seller on ebay.
Device powers up and boots. All the lights work, good times.
BUT
The LCD Screen lights up, but there is only a sliver of information displaying in the left hand side (it looks like a column or something).
Everything else is illuminated but no display, no pixels...

SO

Obviously the screen needs to be replaced. Are there any screen gurus out there that might offer me some advice (cross-compatability between LCD screens of other models, perhaps?)

JUST so you know, I checked out and email VST and mpcstuff.com.
mpcstuff assured me that there would never be any more 2000 screens available (cold day in hell?) on their website, VST had nothing either...

one more thing, I checked out the forums and someone had mentioned replacing their 2500 screen with a blue LED "aftermarket" screen.
Looking at the specs on the 2000, it says the screen is a 248 X 60 Display...anyone know if there is something preventing me from buying the 240 X 68 display here and trying to slap it in the 2000?

Thanks

why not try to open the machine, take the lcd ribbon out, clean it and put it back again.
this could help...

the screens in the link, hmm they propably wont work(not sure about that) but these are different resolution than the mpc has and these may have different controllers.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't delve into the LCD Ribbon issue, I'll take a look at that and let everyone know how it goes....
