I thought I had made some pretty decent contributions in my short time here at the forums, as well as managing to post the odd 'sensible' question or two on occasion - I guess not ! I must be one misguided ol fool, eh ?

Perhaps I'll try harder and leave the 'mumbo jumbo' out of the equation then .... Oh, and as for the beats thing, you will have heard some of mine in the pop world already without ever knowing it was me !

Yep, I am new to actually doing songs via an MPC alone though ... the majority of my creations were brought about either on older hardware or in the Pc virtual realm.

As for beats, here is a lil snippet of a melody I threw together entirely on my MPC1000 just last week ( it is a bit rough around the edges, but that is because I set myself the task of only allowing myself the use of the MPC functions in the recording and editing process :

....feel free to be as directly harsh and spiteful as you want in your critic of it ( do bare in mind that I have only supplied you with the chorus section of the tune, though - the entire song was completed and I had some pretty lil young dame throw some harmonies down over it ( sadly, I won't be posting the entire completed compostion on here for you, though .... ).

.... and thanks for the positive feedback - I thought it was rather poor at the time of putting it together in the MP ( honestly ). Mind you, the girls sweetly haunting harmonising added a much welcomed dimension to the tune, though ( just hope she don;t run me down for some 'creative input money' - I - ahem - somehow managed to skip right past those discussions ( most unsual for me ).

ok everyone, i would not suggest dyeing you buttons.., the fader nob, volume nobs and jog wheel are ok to do, but once you heat up the dye hot enough to dye the plastic it seems to weaken the buttons, it really f u c k s them up, it also really f u c ks up the play and record button too,. so yo,. if you want black buttons, take my advice and f u c k ing buy them

what color do you want to see those play\start buttons? i have 3 white one that ill dye to proove it can be done. if you boil the water and throw in the buttons your a moron that hasnt even read half of the thread you just posted in. boiling water will **** up the main case on an xbox controler and its pretty sturdy plastic. so of course is will damage the play button on an mpc. the lower the temp the longer the soak.

no, i didnt put them in boiling ink, the stove top was on low just like the thread said! the dye works, my volume knobs and the jog weel are fine,black as can be, its the buttons that got f#cked, they dont flex any more, and they are sooooo brittle they break if you push them a few times,. looks like i am a moron, a moron who listened to a bunch of morons, ha ha ha... im not blaming anyone but myself though.... knobs and dials dont flex like the buttons do, yo it really makes the plastic weak, trust me... it sucks cause i really wanna jam out on my mpc, but i gotta wait on buttons, at least its just the white ones....

I only wanted to die my rubber pads black ... so, my main concern is that the dyeing process doesn't weaken them in any way ?

However, I like the sound of turning the Jog Wheel, Q's and main/gain knobs black as well - yes, indeedy. Mind you, I won't be looking to colour the little white and grey buttons .... no, need for me currently.

i used rattle cans on all my buttons including jogwheel and cursor,,,,it actually strengthens them instead of weakining them,,,,heat is always going to be issue when using small parts,,,what happens is it isnt very poreous so it ends up just boiling instead of absorbing,,pads should be fine,,just use low heat instead of the recomended heat and dont be impatient,,let them set a while,,,the longer the darker,,,,,but i wouldnt recomend the buttons for this,,
