NO step by step but the Noritake VFD displays are a drop in replacement. You just need to get the wiring right. I have an Emax as well maybe another project...

I am also interested in knowing how to add the output boost to my 3000. Im wondering do it require the swapping of resistors and swapping out the opamps with another model to keep the noise floor down......

I would send mine to Bruce to have him do the mod, but it would cost me a small fortune in shipping fee's and downtime.

you don't need the boost for the 3K...60 yes, Sp1200 yes, 3K not so much

I am still interested at what was done for this output boost anyway. I know the 3000 is pretty decent with the db output on the individual IO. There usually is a tradeoff for boosting like some sort of filtering the high or low frequency's as I believe unless you are actually adding a gain stage in the unit not just changing values of resistors this will be an issue. I run the individual Outs thru a TL audio tube interface that adds no gain whatsoever but uses 1 half of a tube per channel to add some slight tube harmonic distortion giving the signal some extra "warmth" but in order to drive the tubes you gotta have a pretty hot signal. This was my reason to take a look at what was done and from there figure out IF it was a viable enough mod to try. Its more a curiosity for me to know what is involved.

Regardless I am still interested in knowing what people have done.

Can somebody send me schematics and names (lot numbers) of the transistors and other parts that I need to do this DIY…
I want to send my MPC60 signal thru some valves/tubes but I’m afraid the signal it’s not strong enough to drive the tubes proper…
Please help…
Thanks

I remember the guy (not rhythmonster) who did the output boost mentioned here sold his 60 shortly after...take that into consideration

if I already am using something like an emu 1616m interface to record my 60, is that good enough or is a boost still needed? Or will a boost simply clip my signal at that point?
