u know, all this talk abot this mpc 60II is just intersting. i did some research on the 60. very decent indeed. everyone is raving about this 12bit crunch factor. i am a man like this, i like sticking with what i have, and making it work for me. what i want to kno,

does the 60 have the sample engine as the s950. i got one of those, i use from time to time, and yes there is definately a big audio difference in 12bit and 16 when sampling on those machines. BIG DIFFERENCE.
if i midi the 950 with the 2kxl, would i have a "60II" indirectly?
i spend more and more time with hardware, and leaving software behind. its a real drag

btw, what kind of gear you rocking elm...

No you wouldnt have a 60 indirectly. You would still have a setup that gives you some extra "punch". Ring modulation from pitching down would be there. The ability to sample at a low bitrate is there. Filters are there which the 60 doesnt have. The s950 sounds different from the 60. Different enough for you to care or even notice? Probably not.

the mpc60 has the s900 engine, the s950 is very similar to the s900 but has more filters and stuff, loop crossfade and timestretch and ish, I think.

the 900 engine was tweaked by Linn to have better high frequency response. Non-Linear sampling it's called.

Funny Premo uses the 60 and s950 and it's hard to tell he's doing his beats in 16 bit
alot of the time!

950 is 12 bit, how is he doing them in 16?

Guess she means it's hard to tell that he isn't doing them in 16 bit since they sound so clean?

I don't know, you gotta really reread what you type on forums. BTW, there's an edit function so you don't have to post twice in a row.
